| I know this has been discussed before but I can't find it anywhere and wonder what others have done concerning it's use or lack of. Thanks.

| My friends church used a body splash vanilla spray from Bath and Body works. She said her Chadder person just used regular Vanilla like what you cook with. ????? I like the idea of the spray better. I think I remember someone saying they were using a Vanilla body lotion.

| I think you could also use just plain vanilla extract from the grocery store. I think I remember seeing that someone bought a vanilla spray from the dollar store too that worked.

Someone posted a vanilla burning the kids. I'd be hessitant to use Vanilla that was a room freshner thus hessitate with candle are stuff. Check the label. Stay with something you know can go on the body/skin. AND TEST IT BEFORE you put it on the kids.

| I had been to Michael's and AC Moore and found the oils in the cooking area but vanilla was not among them and the same in the soap area--all these other lovely fragrances but vanilla. I too was hesitant about the candle frangrance because of an earlier post. I was trying to avoid ordering it because it gets pricey. Was interested in the the alternatives. Does spray body lotion have the same effect Group desires in the curriculum. I don't want to lose the effect they are aiming for.

| I'm thinking the idea of the form being an oil is so that it won't drip or run like a liquid would, so you could give each kid a drop easily. Here's my problem - I work across the street from a place called "Body Shop", similar to Bath & Body works. They have perfume oil in lots of scents. If I bought a small bottle of vanilla it would cost $14.00!!! But they have some on sale in other scents for $3.00!!! So, does it have to be vanilla to do the job, or just a strong scent that most people would find pleasing? "Cinnamon & Spice" is on sale for $3.00. I'd like to get that one if it still works.

I think Cinnamon & Spice would work fine. The idea is to have a sweet smell. I think Group picked vanilla because older boys may feel that any flowery smell would be too girly.

You really need to use vanilla. The vanilla oil for Chadder's Theater is used to demonstrate that God is With Us, but when it's used again later in the week for Wild Bible Adventures, it takes away the onion scent that had been rubbed on the children's skin. It has to be vanilla in this case, or it won't work. Vanilla is used to remove other odors. That's why keeping a vanilla candle in your kitchen is a good practice; especially when cooking fish! You would partially cover up the onion scent with cinammon, but it would probably just mix together and end up smelling bad. Hope that helps!

| We used vanilla oil that was purchased at Walmart in the candle section. It costs about $2.00 a bottle (we needed 6, we had over 250 kid's.) We had no reports of burning the children. Crewleaders used cottonballs to ease/speed up the distribution to the kids. It was used in Chadders and what was left was more then enough for Wild Bible Adventures.
