| | I just got the cinnamon & spice scent of perfume oil. I hope it works! Our VBS is July 9-13. If not, I guess I'll be smelling like Christmas cookies for a while! |

| I haven't tried this yet. But what I understand from the book is that if the child's hand is completely underwater when the crew leader rubs it with a spoon, the onion smell will be gone for most people. I also remember reading that using the vanilla on day 5 was something they added because after using it in Chadder the children kept asking for it. I would think the cinnamon will be fine.

| | I found a recipe online for Vanilla oil. You take 1/2 cup vegetable oil (or other basic oil without strong flovor or scent) and heat slightly and stir in 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract. Mix until well blended. The recipe was for using in salad vinagrettes. This is what I was planning to do for our oil. Much cheaper than buying super concentrated perfume or candle oil. I also believe it will be much less likely to be an irritant to the little ones skin. |

| I bought vanilla oil for soapmaking so that I knew it would be safe for the skin. It worked well. I found it at Michael's and it cost $2.50 for each bottle. There was plenty left in each bottle after Chadder on Tuesday for Wild Bible Adventures on Friday.

| We used imitation vanilla extract. 89cents for an 8oz bottle. We applied it with a cotton swab.

| | Just finished AR tonight. It was a blast! Wanted to say that the cinnamon-spice perfume oil I got on sale worked fine. No complaints from the boys, either. |

| Just wanted to add that this took longer to do. The station did run over on Day 5. The kids were interested in how the onion smell went away with the spoon in water.
In Chadder, the older kids liked the unsweeten lemonade so they did not get the point. Group, the older kids eat a lot of that sour patch candy so are used to the sour taste. It worked for the younger kids, they did not like the drink. In fact at the closing program, we served cookies and lemonade and punch. The younger kids asked me does it have sugar before they would try it.

| | How many bottles of the oil did you use? I picked up one, then when I reread through the supply calculator I saw it said 1 per crew.... |

| | We had four crews in each rotation, and used two bottles of the perfume oil. The station leader and his assistant did the application, so each of them had only 10 kids to apply it to. There were no reports of this taking too much time, and it saved us money. |
