We just finished VBS and for Day 5 Elementary Crafts, we used the Sheriff Cactus from OT, but couldn't get enough, so used Magic Scratch 5" x 5" sheets, also from OT, for grades 1 & 2.   I pre-wrote "God is in charge" in the center, then gave each of them a circle, had them lay it on the words and trace around it, then lay a star shape after that & trace around. They could decorate the rest any way they chose.  They have a magnet to put on  the back.  The kids loved both crafts.

My craft leader said that she tried to draw on the Maze game and could not get anything to stick. It kept coming off. So she did the boss heads with the horns. You have to hook the horns with another horn and pick them up like that climbing monkey game.

Hope that helps.

We made chalkboards using a previous posters idea, using cut out wood sanding down edges and chalkboard paint.  I spent 8 bucks a can and got 50 peices (two coats).  The kids loved them.

Friday's drama is healing, so we did first aid kits from Altoid tins.  The contents were band-aids, alchohol wipe, life saver candy, area emergency numbers, scripture.  The kids loved them.

Hope these help!

Blessings,

I love all the ideas.  Thanks for sharing!  Thought I'd share what we are doing for crafts in Wisconsin July 23-27.  Our name tags will be metal sheriff's badges from OTC with the kids' names on them.  The small computer return address labels worked great for the names.  Took just minutes to do.  Monday the kids will add beads to fringed bandanas and we'll pin their badges to the scarves.  (These badges have pins.)  On Tuesday the preschoolers will make doorknob hangers with western stickers.  The older crews will sew patchwork quilts.  Everyone will color and cut out 8" tall boot-shaped invitations for their parents and others.  (I enlarged a photo of a cowboy boot and drew it on the fold so the card will stand up when completed.) On Wednesday everyone will make colorful foam crosses from OTC.  On Thursday the preschoolers will make "Jesus Loves Me" magnets from OTC.   The others will tie their lap quilts and decide who they want to give them to (probably a local nursing home).  Everyone will stuff prayer bears so they'll really have 2 mission projects -- the quilts and the bears.  On Friday everyone will create a scrapbook page with VBS stickers and photos.  Tried this for the first time last year and the kids loved it!  We'll send their pages home in plastic sheet protectors.

We aren't doing the sherrif's badge.  Our craft leader had a terrible time scratching out designs on the samples.  Instead, we are having the kids decorate bandanas using sharpies -- writing their names and "God is in charge" around the edges.  I think my craft leader found bandanas from OTC with crosses on them.

My craft leader purchased yellow foam and drew/traced our stars.  She drew/traced two different sizes for each kid.  She wrote "God is in Charge" on the smaller star.  She had the kids cut out the stars (she pre-cut the little kids' stars) and glue the little star onto the larger star.  They also glued sequences onto the tips of each star.   A self adhesive fastening pin was attached to the back.    She had some shapes traced on yellow foam for the youngest kids to cut if they had time after they made their star.  I believe she stated none of the kids had time for that and some older siblings said some little one were not allowed to use sissors.  (I am sure the parent wouldn't mind as long as it was in a structured setting.   Kids learn that they can only have sissors at school with an adult supervising.)
