This year was the first year my wife and I headed up the decorating for VBS.  We were determined to get church members involved so all in all we had approximately 30 people who helped in one way or another to transform the fellowship hall and classroom areas in the church into Avalanche Ranch.  We provided materials, sketches and plans of the overall idea for each area's final outcome and teamed up people to be responsible for each area's completion.  We put together a Taco Bar for the main decorating nite and had some social time that way also.  Everything turned out wonderfully and the kids loved it!  The preschoolers especially enjoyed riding the haybale horses!  We wanted to share pics w/ you because we discovered the 'forum' a few wks before bible school and found it entertaining that alot of the ideas we had thought up were already posted there... it was also really great to see so many people excited about doing this!  Hope to participate w/ the forum during planning for Power Lab '08!

Great job!  I love the roof you have on one of the buildings- is that real metal?  Excellent that you could have so many working to complete the projects and you got people so involved in making it happen!

I look forward to you and your wife's ideas for next year.

Mmm, this screen tastes good!

Thank you for the kind words. This forum was a great help. Yes that is real metal roofing, some church members were tearing down an old farm building and we took as much stuff as we could get. Our goal this year was not only to get more kids but to get the church more active as well, other years the set-up usually was handled by about 10 - 15 people. I guess you would say this year was as much of an in-reach program as it was an out-reach.

The pictures are great!!  I love the saddles on the bales of straw with the toy horses!  Great idea!  I bet the kids loved them.

Matty I loved Skye on top of the tin roof.. I am going to have to order 2 of her/him next year... Your photos are great..

Connie btw we had a carpenter who sat through all the Saturday service and tried to figure out how we did the tile rooves on our Fiesta buildings.. Eventually I had to tell him it was foam styrene cups.. He thought it was ingenious... Thank you for your brilliance in coming up with the idea...
