I did the sawdust critters.  But what I thought I would do instead of the kids making their own because it takes so long to dry if you make them to thick.  I took cookie cutters of a log cabin, star, bear and a cross and made them up so they could dry through then hot glued magnets on the back and they just have to paint and decorate them.  I also was going to explain what it was made from and how after you mixed it up and dried that it got strong.  That is God he is strong, and everytime they seen it they would think of God alway being Strong.  They were real easy to make up also.

We did the sawdust critters as written. The kids enjoyed making their own dough. It was a very inexpensive craft to do.

On the down side, it was hard to keep consistant because the sawdust is a variable when measuring, so keep some flour around to add if its to sticky and water if its to dry. Make sure they listen to directions and do not add water directly to sawdust without flour or it will just turn out to be soggy sawdust.

Some turned out really cute and others looked more like cow pies (according to several adults) but the kids loved them just the same and none were left behind at the end of the week.

Good Luck-Jane
