My husband and I teach Bible Quizzing in our church and this year we will be teaching Genesis again.

The publisher has developed a theme with an archaeologist named Dr. Likes T. Digalot, and I am looking for ideas to go with this theme.  I have already made a notebook for the kids to put their weekly vocabulary words or ARTI-FACTS, but want some other fun ideas.  Thought about purchasing canteens (his camel is named Canteen) or khaki hats of some sort, but can't find a lot out there.

You all were so creative with ideas for VBS, hopefully someone might have something to share.

Thanks!

Hi,
I would look at School Supply places that carry teacher's suppies. It would be fun to get some sand and put in a pan and have the kids dig for items that would pertain to that days lessons or words from the bible lesson . Once they find them , they have to put them in order. Great way for them to learn the verse.
Take like a construction hat , spray paint it beige. Then add items to make it look like a dig specialist. I did this for a jungle theme and had a snake as the band with its head sticking out and other small animal stickers all over it. Could be done with small tools etc.

Have fun

Along the same lines as the above suggestion, I was to a homecoming fair at a Christian college many years ago, and the professor who taught about Old Testament history had a "dig" as a booth. They marked off a piece of ground (outside) for a giant sandbox, and burried pieces of broken clay pots in it. They gave groups of 2-3 kids sand shovels, and had them look for "pot shards" as the scientists call them. Then they reassembled the pieces to see what they'd found. You could write or draw on the pots before breaking them.
