We did a bandana slide a the field test and while I wasn't overly thrilled with how it came out...I liked the concept of having a bandana slide.  It was similar to one of those plastic kids rings (like they sometimes put on cupcakes).  Has anyone seen western/cowboy plastic kids rings?

If you search for boy scout or cub scout slides, you should get a ton of ideas.  The boys are always making new slides to wear with their neckerchiefs.  Each month the cub scouts has a theme and they make a slide to go with it.  Most are easy to make, and I know they've done western themes.  I found a site not too long ago that had all the themes back to the early 90s...if I can find it again I'll post the link.

Cindy,

I had made copies from this link last month. These are metal conchos for making bandana slides with. Of course, that could another craft in itself!

Cindy, I need to read more carefully.  I thought it said "banana slide" and I really couldn't figure out what that would be for.  Hee Hee.

Then we won't mention the fact that I spelled it that way when I first starting "googling" the topic!

Thanks for the suggestions! I had remembered the conch link and checked it again.  I guess I was looking for something else to compare it to.

A word of advice if you are making bandana slides : have the kids first fasten their bandanas with a rubber band, and THEN put the slide on top. Keeps the sucker from sliding off and onto the floor, which would be as slippery as a ... banana

Thanks for the rubber band tip!  We are making the concho slides with the elementary kids this year.

For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.

Here's what I was thinking about:

This one is from 2003 - http://www.scoutxing.com/themes/2003/themes_2003-08.htm There are quite a bit of craft ideas, as well as 1 slide - it's waaaaayyyyy at the bottom.  Some fun games ideas as well.

This one does not have a slide, but does give details on making a table into a chuck wagon, making a horse from a box, and how to spin a rope/lasso.  Again, scroll to the bottom. http://www.scoutxing.com/themes/1998/themes_1998-08.htm

Enjoy!
