| | i was thinking in the entrance or a hallway it would look cool if we had different things to show the topic so i was thinking why not a touch and feel table. we could have like a beaker with hair gel and another with shaving cream and all sorts of things, and i also thought why not make goop. at the end of our VBS we have an incentive to get the kids to bring in offering, this year we had our 2 directors and 2 teachers kiss a pig i was thinking next year it would be fun if we slimed some of the teachers. we could make slime each night and display it so the kids new what we would put on the teachers if they kept bringing in offering. just ideas, please email me back to tell me if i'm just crazy. thanks

| A balloon arch would look neat over the registration table. It could resemble a DNA strand. What do you think?

| I used mylar stars this year at the entrance and I am planning on getting mylar circles next year. They stay up all week long definitely draw attention. I think that pictures of the logo could also be glued to the balloons, too. I am also thinking of using them to mark where the crews are in the sanctuary.

Denni,
instead of gluing pics of the logo onto the balloons, purchase some full sheet labels to print them on and then just stick em to the balloons. Saves 1 step.

| I am thinking about getting several cheap (walgreens?) spiral Christmas trees and painting them different colors. I am hoping to suggest tesla coils, even though that really isnt what they look like at all. The light shoud be able to go through a LIGHT coat of spray paint, wouldn't you think? I can test it and, if it doesn't work, I can cover the bulbs and just paint the plastic parts and wires.

| | So far my imagination is soaring for the entrance, and I am thinking of a silver paper lined hallway with interesting paper or cardboard clipart of the theme. I wonder how a large beaker entrance would be to walk through. The sign in table gets very congested when the kids arrive to recieve their shirts and cds. I am thinking of greeters in lab coats at the sign in table to point them in the right direction to their special lab set up on the floor of the church hall.We will probably color code the crews. from Church Lady

| | I have been thinking about the on-hands lab at the Minnesota Science Museum. The enterance has lab coats hanging on pegs, goggles, and plastic gloves. There is a notice stating the rules of the lab and what to do when you are done (mainly washing your hands at a nearby sink and where to put the coats, goggles, and gloves). You could set up the entry way with the lab coats, goggles, and gloves for the kids to put on as they enter the event. Have a hand washing station set up that could include the non-water hand sanitizer. The kids are to wash hands on the way in. Include an area for used coats and goggles and garbage for the used gloves. On the way out, the kids put their used items away and then wash their hands again. If your entry way is too small for all this activity, then put out sample lab coats, goggles, gloves with a sign stating where they can get their "gear". I would however try to do the handwashing activity at the entrance if at all possible - it sets the tone for a lab. Wherever they get their "gear" place a sign stating what to do with the items at the end of the evening with a reminder to wash hands on the way out.
