I'm from a very small church, but we wanted to do vbs. So we went ahead and planned it, even though we only had 5 children from our church able to attend. We live in a downtown area and hung doorhangers and went around the streets inviting the children. Last night was our first night and we had a total of 12 children! I know it doesn't sound like much, especially when you read about all the big churches and their vbs's. But how cool is that, more than half of the children that came don't go to our church. They had a great time, learned their bible verses and really got into it. Tonight they all came back and brought their older siblings with them! Please pray for the rest of the week for us. And, anyone from a small church, be encouraged you can have a great time even if you don't have 100 kids! (I'll post pix at the end of the week)

That's great!  We have such a variety of sizes of VBS represented here.  But I think we would all agree that what counts is helping the children have a relationship with Jesus.

That is so great!!!  To God be the glory, great things He has done!!   How blessed to have more then 50% of your kids be from outside the church.  Can't wait to see the pictures, have a great time!!!

I am so happy for you and your church.  We are not as small as you but still very small and it is such a blessing to be able to reach kids outside of your church as well as in.  9 out of 29 attendees this year are from the Sunday School, the rest are from the area.  Congrats on your outreach!

Thank you for going ahead and doing VBS! You were obedient to the call and God will most certainly reward you . By going about the streets and "inviting" children you took part in the "Great Commission." The fact that 12 children showed up sounds like the beginning of greater things! Remember the "12" disciples?

You said it doesn't sound like much, but I say it sounds like a STADIUM in the light of eternity ! I've said it so many times before, even if one child shows up for VBS and is touched by the power of God's Word then it would all be worth it. The one and most important aspect of your VBS has been and will be accomplished when these children receive and learn the Word of God. Remember, "heaven and earth will pass, but His Word will last forever!"

I will pray for the rest of your week. May the blessings of heaven pour upon you all and may you experience the biggest anointing on your VBS program as a result of your love, dedication and faithfullness to the Lord and the ministry to children.

BTW, we had 36 and 20 were from non-christian homes. Some parents expressed their desire to send their kids back for SS!!!

Partnering with parents to "TRAIN" up our children in the way they should go!
