I have mentioned before that my husband has some health problems.  He had Hodgekin's disease when he was young but he was able to beat that.  He was sick in the early 70's and the "cure" he was given to save his life then will likely cost him his life now.  The large doses of radiation that he received to cure his cancer gave him many additional happy years of life and we are so thankful for each moment, but the side effect is that now his heart is calcifying.  His aorta and aortic valve are so full of calcium that the doctors are not able to operate safely.  The risk of stroke or death as a result of a piece of the calcium breaking away is very large.  They told us that we are basically waiting for a heart attack and then the risk level to operate will be resed (if he lives through the heart attack).  Anyway, Dave has had two small seizures in the last two weeks.   They are not able to tell us the cause of the seizures.  He has not had a heart attack, stroke, or any other problems as a result of the seizures except a very worried wife.

I understand what is ultimately going to happen with my best friend.  But this is very hard to deal with.  I would really appreciate it to have some additional prayers to help to keep me strong for my husband and our children.  We do not know at this point if he will have anymore seizures or what new medical problem we will have to deal with.  I have found so much love and support from this board and I would like to thank you in advance for any prayers that you may give on our behalf.  Thank you.

My dear sister and partner in ministry,

My heart and soul goes out to you. Indeed this must be a very difficult time. Please rest assure that we are here for you. AR may be over and PL may not be here yet, but we are here to stay and to do what we do best which is to PRAY! I commit myself to lift you, your husband and lovely family to the throne of our mighty God and healer. May his perfect will be done in your lives and may he grant you peace and strength during this time. God has certainly blessed you with many years next to your life partner and his promise is that you will also enjoy that throughout eternity! Whatever lies ahead for you all know that God is in control. He is the source of all hope and comfort. You also have us to encourage, uplift and love you through it all.

I know what it's like to worry about a sick husband, and thank the Lord for all he's done for us. I'm praying for the both of you.

Dear Teri, I am praying for you, your husband, family and the docs. So sorry to hear of this latest medical problem.

He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.

Thank you everyone.  It really is comforting to read your prayers and know that my husband will benefit from your prayers.  Dave wore a heart monitor for 48 hours last weekend.  We haven't heard the results yet.  He hasn't had any additional episodes.  Our doctor told us that he is pretty sure both episodes were heart related and not brain related.  I guess that is good because the cause is likely from the condition we know rather than some new problem.

It is really hard to deal with the slow slide this illness is taking us on.  Dave has been more active this summer than he has been for the last couple years.  Dave says he just forgot he was sick and worked too hard.  He was actually just puttering around but for more hours than has been usual for him.  It has been a wonderful summer and he has enjoyed working around the house.  My nephew has been working for us while we had a new roof put on the house and now we are working on painting the house.  Dave pretty much supervises from a lawn chair with a laser pointer so he can point out any places we miss.

Thank you again for adding us to your prayer lists.
