We are thinking of having our WWFF on Saturday, Oct. 27 but can't imagine what the best time would be.  Afternoon, evening?  We are leaning towards 6pm - 8pm.  We'd really like to attract a big crowd for this.  I would appreciate anyone else's suggestions.

I strongly reccommend not holding WWFF at night. Our church held Heroes Unmasked from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, and received very low turnout because younger children are more active during the daytime. I would suggest holding your event in the morning or early afternoon if you want a strong turnout.

We decided to hold our event on Saturday, October 20.

We did ours HU on October 31 from 6:30 to 8:30 last year, because of the volunteers(this year I'm going to try 6 to 8), and we did had a great turn out - 28 NEW families! people are on the streets, the kids are ready to party, so they will come, just have your entrance attractive to them. We had a moonwalk in the side, balloons and lights, the banner and a table in the entrance, so people were attracted! Saturday too is a day that the kids are up to late.

Since 10/27 is on Saturday, you might want to consider having it earlier.  We generally have ours from 3 - 5 or 6P.  It is getting dark a lot earlier and we need to clean up as much as possible for Sunday morning worship.

Because there are already sooo many churches in our area that do Halloween alternatives, we are doing our WWFF in November. We will probably have it in the afternoon or early evening.

Since we're not using it as a Halloween alternative, but more as a VBS followup along with being a community outreach, we're planning ours for Friday, October 19 in the evening.  We hope this will mean a bigger turnout since we won't be overlapping with other churches' Halloween alternative programs.

I posted this elsewhere, but last year we did our Oct 31 and we heard over and over - "thanks for doing this on Oct 31. All the other churches in town did it the weekend before (or earlier) and we needed something our kids could do tonight."

I know it is a lot of work to do on a week night, and I guess it depends on your purpose for doing it. We were doing it as an outreach, and wanted to reach as many new people as possible (which we would not have done the weekend before). Our own church family enjoyed it as well. We got everything ready (as much as possible) on Saturday, then just had to set up on Oct 31.

We will be trying to do ours in conjunction with Trick or Treat.  The doors are open and kids just come in and hang out while they are going through town.  But remember I live in a TINY town (less than 500 people) and things like TorT are a really big, community deal.

Last year they held TorT on Sat night and there was already a big eveng scheduled at the church.  So we held it on Tuesday night at the school and turnout was good (about 50 I seem to recall) but not as large as it had been before.

I'm heading to the Village Council meeting tomorrow night to find out when TorT is going to be this year so we can officially get planning!

And as far as planning, I'd ask your volunteers what works out to be the best time for them!

i need ideas on how to set up and organize this fall festival.  How did you do a schedule and set up the booths, games, etc.?  This is our first time to do something like this and i am really excited!

thanks
