| | Another update on Orion: Orion's condition worsened dramatically a few weeks ago. He has started to get strong feelings of self harm including his body wanting him to jump from a third floor balcony at the Mall of America. SOOO SCARY! We had been referred to a psychiatrist and had our first visit less than a week from the Mall of America event (I had called and begged to get in sooner than the day before Thanksgiving). Following that meeting, Orion just cried. He thought he would be given medication to get rid of these thoughts of self harm (an occasionally to hate or harm mom). He stated he thought he needed in-patient help. So, we went down the street from the psychiatrist and was sed for in-patient child psych hospitalization. He was hospitalized for almost 2 weeks and the medications are helping so much in this area. I am so proud of his strength in looking for help and seperating from home overnight to get help. I still think there is something behind the anxiety so I finally insisted that our peds doctor refer us to a peds neurologist. We saw a nurse practioner who understands my concerns and stated that Orion's migranes with auras can cause the anxiety. She has also ordered an MRI and a sleep deprived EEG to rule out seizure disorders and blood tests to check thyroids. In research of thyroids, I find that Orion does have many symptoms to point toward this. He also has possible symptoms of seizures. (seizure disorders also can cause migranes and/or anxiety) MRI and EEG are scheduled for next Friday with results by December 6th. Our prayers are being answered. We thank you all for your caring and the prayers you have brought forth.

| | Another update: The EEG and MRI both came back normal. The neurologist nurse practitioner is certain this is a migraine variant, however, she is puzzled over the length of Orion's auras. His auras are 2 - 3 seconds which would indicate seizure instead of migraines which auras are commonly 5 - 60 minutes. Orion states he gets these once or twice a day. So, we have scheduled a 48 hour EEG video to try to capture one of these to see what they are about just to make sure there is no seizure activity. This will start the day after Easter.
