For VBS I was found some wonderful material for both recruiting and training. Some was from Group but a lot was from other church members. I wondered if anything was out there for non VBS.

I could take the VBS and rewrite, but am hoping to not have to recreate the wheel.

We have some wonderful recruiting and training tips at childrensministry.com--articles, resources, books, videos. Check out our offerings in Volunteer Leadership.

Also, we're featuring a fun jungle recruiting theme on our homepage right now. You can find the article here and it has a creative video you can use too. http://www.childrensministry.com/article.asp?ID=1630

Nancy,

Here's a link to a list of resources that Group has for Teacher Training in Children's Ministry.

I wrote our own, since we could not find anything that was really what we needed or wanted.

We have a program that certifies our teachers with different levels of certification.  This has really caught on and the teachers are excited about it.  On one level they have to bring a prepared idea (snack, object lesson, storytelling idea, etc.) to the meeting and "teach" it to the other teachers. Lots of fun.

Group's Church Volunteer Central provides awesome short courses for teacher training that people can do online and you can get email notices when they finish a lesson.
