Heidi,

You can look here for ideas but Group also has a Children's Ministry Message Board that you can look at and post on as well. Here's a link to it.

Several years ago, our pastor's wife started a Kings Kids Klub for children of these ages.   I don't know if we get many kids ages 10 - 12 but they know they are welcome.  Pastor's wife has a few helpers and sometimes the kids are split into two groups.

They meet twice a month.  On the first meeting, they have a story, craft, and snack.  The story usually involves visual aides and/or object lessons.

On the second meeting of the month, there is either a guest speaker, a field trip, or a service project.   One speaker was the local paramedics.  A field trip has been to a local honey bee farm.   A service project has been making cookies from scratch to send to our military personnel or going door to door to collect food shelf items.  Each table of kids mixes one batch of cookies.

We meet October through April.  Then once more toward the end of May.  Our May meeting is always a trip to our church's cemetary to place crosses/flowers on the graves.  We have a couple at church who make these crosses.   It is always nice to have the elders members of the congregation involved in this project.  They can give mini tours of the cemetary while helping place the crosses and let the kids know who these people were.

Other children's programs we have are a puppet ministry where a young high school boy provides his talents as leader and chimes.
