Hey everyone

I have to write a paper for a class in Seminary and was wondering what people thought about it. The topic is "How do I relate to Parents when they blame me when their children go bad?" Anyone have any thoughts on this or have any experience in dealing with this? Any help on this would be appreciated.

According to my 17 year old daughter, any and all problems in life are my fault (she has had this thinkng going on her entire life).  I would never blame a teacher or other in authority in how she turns out.

I used to think parents were to blame for bad kids before God gave me a wake up call by giving me a daughter so strong willed I often feel I never had a chance.

I really believe the child has to take responsibility of how he/she turns out.  Their parents and other adults have given them the tools and probably told them over and over what was right and wrong.  They choose not to listen.  You can lead a horse to water but you can not make it drink theroy.

If you interview several successful, happy people, some will say that they had a very hard life and knew they had to make changes to succeed.

Others who are unhappy and not as successful will say that no one ever gave them anything.

God has given us all a free will.  Unfortunately, this includes our children.

I am not saying to do away with discipline.  I am saying that you can do everything right to the best of your abilities and the end result is still not what you want.

If the kids are turning out bad, it may be because they lack repect for their parents (my case in point).
