| I want to implement changes from the book in youth ministry, but am uncertain how to begin. Is there something that spells it out clearly where/how to start when the ministry is not the general ministry of the church? How do I begin within a ministry? Sort of an open-ended question, but I don't want to jump in too quickly or drag my feet too much.

| Kelly, thanks for the feedback/question. I'm very excited to let you know that chances are, you can implement Me To We in any ministry. The only hesitance I have is that some lead pastors who want to control other ministries, may want you to "do" the ministry yourself instead of developing others to "do" the ministry. Therefore, you'll need to consider your situation. Having said that, there are a couple things I can pass your way. Retool yourself to consider how you can improve your team building and coaching skills. Here are some books to consider: Team Based Church by George Claudis, 5 Dysfunctions of Team by Patrick Lencioni, and The Equipping Church by Sue Mallory, plus check out any training ops or books dealing with coaching, because it's one of the best ways to develop others around you. Work now at creating your own team, including 2-3 leader types, who can actually lead or help you lead the youth ministry. Cast vision, brainstorm, and let them help develop the plan, since you want ownership to be high among them. Turn more and more things over to them and when you feel partly safe, call in sick or be out of town for a big event. Let them fly solo and then get feedback on how things went. You can do this, like I said, so long as the lead pastor is okay with you implementing the equipping value. You can also read Me To We with your team leaders to they "get" what you're striving to do. Let me know how it goes. alan
