Just so everyone knows my church is going on a lab coat crusiade... We have sent letters to all the Dr's offices in town as well as the Medical college of VA which is not to far away, asking for donations of old unsuseable lab coats. As a student at the college i know the coats will have a rip on a pocket or a stain but they are still better than what we have to pay for them in the Biology Dept, $20-40 !!!! Most of them will have the hospital or person's name embroidered on them but that is a minor detail and can be removed, but i found it fun because some of the nursing lab coats are shorter fitting some kids if we choose. where doctor ones fit adults in length. It's worth a shot to try and at least we can get them for all the station leaders for free, ask dr's offices, labs (Labcorp USA or example) Hospitals in the area and the university research areas. I know the Dr I work for has about 20 coats and he gave me all of his for my undergraduate lab work in college so if we ask who knows how many we can get!!!!!!!

Our pastor is a chaplain at a hospital - and they gave us a big donation toward Fall Festival since it was a "community" event - we'll have to ask them for the coats come VBS time. What a great idea!

Check with linen supply companies such as Alsco (American Linen) and Angelica. They rent labcoats to many hospitals, labs, etc.  When they become threadbare, stained, or otherwise un-usable, they sell them cheap.

My husband is a pharmacist, so I'm borrowing his old smocks.  Some are shortsleeved, but I'm thinking the short sleeves might be nice and breezy in June/July/Aug.  Ask your local pharmacist about old smocks they might stashed away.

And of course keep your eyes WIDE open for PJ's famous Giveaways! Among others I am putting together a complete Scientist Ensemble (New Lab Coat, Goggles, Black Latex gloves, and 4 more goodies!).

But of course you'll have to wait for Dr. Blindstein's Laboratory. Coming Soon!

But don't ask me! LOL! Besides I wear a lab coat not a smock

He really wears a smock??

I ordered a couple of the American Science and Surplus $5.00 lab coats for my Lego Robotics team and they are actually pretty nice for the money. They were obviously a drug company giveaway because they and a little thin and have a birth control pill name embroidered on the pocket. I plan on covering the drug name up with something though so the kids can wear them for their research presentation.

I was privy to a couple of sneak peaks and you won't be disappointed! Very cool site PJ has put together for you.
