| | That's great Lisa! This Sunday we're talking about Mephibosheth and David. We'll pass out a piece of tissue paper to each person. ($1 for 30 sheets at Dollar Tree/Deals - we'll cut that into quarters) Scripture readings are Psalm 51:15-17 and 2 Samuel 9:1-7. The paper represents our life as God would like it to be. Colorful, smooth, beautiful, each different and unique. Then they will be directed to crumple the paper. Really smash it up. That's what happens when we make wrong choices and sin enters our life. They will try to smooth it back out. And you can do a pretty good job, but it will never be the same. (Like you life with sin.) Then after the sermon, Roger will have them take the paper back out and hold it in their hands. We're talking about being broken before God. So we will pray over the paper, asking God to break our hearts before him. Roger will direct people to tear the paper in half over and over as we ask God to break our anger, our pride, our addictions, our indifference, etc. They will end up with a bunch of little pieces, which they will bring to the altar as we play "Broken and Beautiful" by Mark Schultz. During the next week, we'll dump those pieces (and likely more) into a plexiglass cross that we've made. This will be used later on another Sunday during the sermon series, but it will be up front from next week on!
