I would highly recommend Columbia International University (Columbia, SC) to anyone. I recieved my Bachelor's in youth ministry from there and loved it. They are a little short coming on the technology side of things but the youth ministry profs make up for it in their intentional mentoring. Call and talk to Hule Goddard or David Olshine about checking things out. It was great getting an education from profs that are still in youth ministry. I also minored in Outdoor Leadership (highly recommend that program as well). Hope this helps.

Hey Josh,

I know of a few.

Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, GA  (where I go)

They had a B.S. with an emphasis in youth ministry but not anymore.  However, you can take Youth Min. electives.  (this school is far from you though)  It's also traditionally Pentecostal.

Taylor University (I don't know anything about it.)

George Fox University (in Oregon; I think it's a Quaker school)

Some of the Southern Baptist seminaries offer undergraduate degrees.

If you are looking into seminary I highly recommend Princeton Theological seminary.  They have an excellent youth department.

Asbury also offers online cl and you can take Youth Min. cl.  I also highly recommend Asbury.

I guess it depends on your theological tradition where you go.  However, If you're like me, that doesn't matter so much.

Hope this helps,

My son is heading to Colorado Christian University, in Lakewood (Denver), Colorado. He says it's the best.

I went to Huntington University. I was taught by Dave Rahn who usually has an article in Group.
Indiana Wesleyan University is also a good one

My fiance and I know a number of youth ministers who were really happy with their training from Trinity Lutheran College in Issaquah, Washington (near Seattle). Unfortunately, we both received "baptism by fire" as far as leading youth goes (i.e., don't have degrees in youth ministry). Hope that helps!

I highly recommend Elim Bible Institute in Lima, NY. www.elim.edu/

Its a non-denominational school with a real passion for God. Anyone who goes there, even for just one semester, will not come out the same. Either they will come out with a much greater passion for God, or they will have to close themselves off to Him entirely... their choice entirely. I actually recommend at least 1 full year.

Their full program is a three year program in which everyone majors in the Bible and minors in Leadership Ministry, Youth Ministry, Music Ministry, or Missions. The school is very missions focused and is very well known internationally. They don't advertise much at all due to their wanting people who God more specifically sends them than those are are attracted by a spiffy advertising campaign. Thus they are not as well known nationally.

They are very strict in a great many ways. For instance, no dating of any kind is allowed in the first semester (then a little more freedom is given each semester after that). The school has found that too often in the first semester God is doing so much in each individual that if they start dating another person they will attribute those changes to the other person and not God and as such develop unhealthy relationships. The dress code is very strict as well.

As for academically, the expectations are very solid. So solid in fact that i left the school after finishing the 3 year program and was accepted into a nationally / internationally known and accredited Seminary as if i had my Bachelors degree. From there i finished my Masters in counseling and went on to score in the top 10% when taking my licensing exam in counseling.

I could easily go on, but you get my drift...
