Adrianne-Thank you for all of your advice that you have given me.  I will not stop until we get to the bottom of this.  Thank you for being so open in what you have experienced with your son.  I pray that God blesses you for your help to me.

Please continue to pray.  Jacob has a doctor's appointment today at noon with a Child Psychologist.  Our dr. is trying to exhaust all possibilities of why he is hurting.  He wants this dr. to see him to see if maybe stress could be causing his pain.  At this point, it will not hurt him at all to see this doctor.  He internalizes so much.  I will try to keep everyone updated on things that are going on.  I can't thank you all enough for your prayers.  I can honestly say that I could not have made it without them.  Thank you so much again.  Please continue to pray for us.

Please keep us informed.  I have a 9 y/o dau., and can't imagine the stress and pain that you must be suffering, knowing that your child is suffering.  Michael and I are praying for immediate results from God for this child.

Thank you for your prayers MamaRed.

We saw the Child Psycologist today.  She talked to us for a while.  Jacob layed in the floor most of the time because he hurt and cried.  He sat in a chair at first and then went to the floor.  The dr. said that Jacob has anxiety and depression but that it is from hurting for so long and for going without sleeping good at night.  She also said that there is definately something medical going on that is making him hurt.  She strongly suggested getting him in to see a Pediatric Neurologist.  He is to start taking medicine to help him sleep and for the anxiety/depression.  She gave me the name of a Pediatric Neurologist and I took it to our dr.  Please continue to keep Jacob in your prayers.  Pray that it will not take several weeks to get him in somewhere.  Thank you so much again for all of your prayers.

Jamie:

Reading your situation broke my heart!!  We will definitely pray for you.

Please know that I'm not a doctor.  What I'm going to tell you is from experience or information from friends.  First: Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis doesn't always show in the preliminary blood tests.  You can have RA for awhile before it shows in the blood.  You need to have someone that looks at his SYMPTOMS along with the blood work!  Second:  Get a referral to a pain clinic for him!!  They will be able to help manage the pain until they can figure out what the cause is.  And Lastly:  Could he have Lyme disease?  You get it from a deer tick bite.  You can pick up deer ticks in most fields, rural parks, etc.  It isn't something that they automatically test for.  Ask if they ran a Lyme titer on him.

I hope some of this helps you.  Keep us posted, and we will continue to pray!

Jamie,  How is Jacob doing?  Have the medications help reduce some symptoms?  Has he had a good nights sleep?  I keep praying.

I thank you again for all of your prayers.  We are very frustrated right now.  Our dr. called the Pedi Neurologist that the Child Psychologist had suggested we call.  They talked blood work and of course the Neurologist told our dr. that there probably isn't anything that he can do.  Wednesday evening our dr. called and asked if we wanted him to get Jacob in with a Child Psychologist at Children's for a second opinion.  At the time, I said no because I agreed with the Child Psychologist that we saw Monday and I still agree.  We don't believe that our dr. has done enough to rule out anything medical that could be causing Jacob's pain.  All that has been done is blood work.  There have been no scans done.  I called and scheduled an appointment with a Pediatrician but they can't get him in before Feb. 12.  We are rethinking the second opinion simply for the fact that it mey get him in the system at Children's quicker to see other doctors.  Jacob is still in a lot of pain but he is sleeping a little better.  I didn't help him get in the van quick enough last night and he fell trying to get in because it hurt him so bad to step up and in.  Please continue to keep him in your prayers.

Jamie,

You definately need to find another pediatrician!  It sounds like this one has stopped looking for medical reasons that are causing your son's pain.  Get another oppinion and a third & a fouth if need be.  Keep looking for the right doctor who will work with you and your son until they find the cause of his pain.  I will be praying for wisdom on the doctors part to help find the cause of the problem and healing for your son. God bless, Angie

Jaime, I agree with PL please get more opinions. My friend saw at least 11 doctors, yes 11! before she got the correct diagnose and was able to treat her condition. Prayerfully you won't. I also pray for revelation from on high so that this gets treated quickly.

Opinions can mean more options.  What your first doctor told you made sense - he/she was good at explaining it in a way that you understood.   Keep looking for options even if you want to keep focusing/working on this one.   If the 2nd opinion gives the same result, tell that doctor that you are struggling to get help to that option.   Say, "That is what the 1st psychologist thought, now how can we get the medical world to listen and do more tests?"   Ask the current psychologist for more options also.

Have you made that appt with the rheumotologist?  It seems like so far away, but better to have it on the books and cancel later if needed.

I am finding it sometimes frustrating dealing with three doctors - who do I ask which question?   My son's pediatritian or the psychiatrist or the neurologist?  Whichever one I bring a concern to will often tell me to bring it to another.

I am so glad to hear Jacob has been able to sleep a little better though it still sounds like he has a long way to go for relief.  Are the medications some that take awhile to build up in his system so each day or so gets better for him?

How is his sister doing?

Still praying -

Adrianne

Thank you all for your prayers, support, and advice.  Each are greatly appreciated.  Jacob's doctor was out yesterday so I will be on the phone Monday morning with his nurse for the second opinion with the Child Psychologist from Children's.  We agree with the first psychologist but we feel like this could get him in the system at Children's at access to more doctors quickly.  The medicine that he is taking now can take up to 2 -3 weeks to get in his system.  Please pray that it doesn't take that long.  He sees the first psychologist again on Feb. 4, a pediatrician on Feb. 12, and we got paper work yesterday from a Rheumatologist at Scottis Rite Hospital for April 4th.  This appointment is so far out because there is no inflamation showing up in his blood work.  We were told at Children's that if inflamation had shown up when they did their blood work that they could have gotten him seen that day by a Rheumatologist.  We're praying that we can get in quickly to see the child psychologist at Children's fast and they can get him help faster.  Please continue to lift Jacob up in your prayers.

Zoie is having a hard time with her asthma this past week.  It has been what we consider cold in Texas this past week and supposed to be that way this next week.  The highs have been in the lower 40's.  The cold seems to make her worse.  She is on a round of steroids right now along with albuterol syrup and her regular breathing treatments.  The steroids make her act horrible.  We've had this experience before and we will survive this time to.  She has been so sweet to Jacob, loving on him and helping him any way she can.  She has been drawing him pictures and making him things.  Please keep her in your prayers also.

Thank you again for all your prayers.  I wish I could give each one of you a BIG hug.  I pray that God pours his blessings on each one of you.

JamieM
