For those of you that have your started kit, I have a couple of questions.

1.  Is the bible stories acted out like they have been in the past with bible characters or is it science related?

2.  Does it come with a sound effects CD like in the past.  I don't see that listed anywhere in the catalog.

Any help will be appreciated.

God Bless,

I looked through things briefly last night (finally got all my goodies yesterday!) and yes, the story is acted out each night.  However, I don't recall there being the need for any sound effects, so no sound effects CD.  But I didn't STUDY the lessons, just glanced over each one to get a feel for what was going on.  (Then ran to salvage boxes for my Bible Village!  LOL)

Depending on why you are asking the question you might want to know...

I happened to read through Bible Blast yesterday as well. I noticed that the leader is no longer the biblical times character as in years past. For example, in the past we had James and John's mother (I think it was actually written for the father) lamenting that they left to follow Jesus and she needed new fisherman ("first person" story telling). The kids were the applicants. This year everything is done in the "third person" were the story is told from today looking back to those times.

My point? Costuming isn't necessary (years past our leader wore a biblical times costume...this year it looks like no special costume is necessary though a lab coat keeps the science theme).

I wonder why the change....

I was really hoping that it was bible times characters.  I really liked the way Group presented that and the kids (not to mention the adult bible leaders) really got a kick out of stepping back into bible times.

Not sure what I'll do now.  Keep praying, thats for sure.

I think that there are several days that you could EASILY adapt to a Bible times character.  First day is the ten lepers and children are isolated as lepers.  Another day they are in the boat, etc.  You even build a Bible times village in your room from boxes, so it wouldn't be out of character at all.

One of the great things about Group's Easy VBS is that you are not limited to what you can do. If you want to do costumes you can. I'm OK with not doing the Bible characters this year. There is so much interaction and fun that you can truly convey the story and keep them engaged. I think it is truly attention grabing!

The only time you will be needing sound effects is on Day 3. It is the "Storm Sounds" sound effect downloadable at http://www.groupvbs.com/powerlab/stormsounds.asp

You'll play this to add realism to the stormy night in which Peter walked on water. Oh! the activity for walking on water, "Non-Newtoninan Fluid" (Cornstarch, water and food coloring) is so coooool! Makes me want to do this station.

BTW, Day 5 is just awesome! As a Pentecostal I think the activity for that Day (Pentecost) is very realistic. Group did a magnificent job in assimilating the Bible Story. I am soooo excited already!!!

Funny, I just read mine yesterday, too...must have been the day to be looking at this stuff! The character is not a bible times character, but more of a "science guy" (or girl!) telling what happened...I initially thought I was going to be disappointed...BUT, it is very cool, and, as PJ said the walking on water and Pentecost stories are amazing! I like that the setting is not too complicated, too...puts the focus on the story and the kids, more than on the room itself. I agree...only the stormy seas day has a CD needed. I haven't listened to the CD, but the book only indicated that day. I am even MORE excited after reading the Bible Blast material! Kimberly

For Bible Blast, do we use the "scene setters" (tarps) or do we just leave the room like it is? Any information is welcome!!
