UPDATE.  Just got back from the Melanoma specialist and got what we think is good news.  Plan for surgery to remove the cancerous lymph nodes next week and then start 4 months of clinical trial chemotherapy.  5 year survival rate with this clinical trial is 80%.  While I wish it were 100%, 80 is much better than some of the other numbers we have heard.

We feel this is an answer to prayer and thank all of you for your continued prayers.

Mike, That does appear promising.  Remember though, numbers are really only human and with God on your side, your wife has more Promise than the doctors can give based on their experience and statistics.   So, take these numbers and grow them in God's Love through the prayers and support of your family and friends.

As I pray for your family, I keep thinking about Caring Bridge.  Have you set up an account on that site?  Go to www.caringbridge.org, create a CaringBridge website and then get the word out to your family and friends.   This is a place that you can journal what you are going through and your family and friends can tap into it to keep up with your news.  Guests can also sign the guest book so you know who is praying for you.

The CaringBridge site is the best way to keep everyone marching together in support for you and your family.  Accept help as offered.  Some people wait to be asked so if there is anything you need, let your family and friends know.  No matter how trivial the task, people will feel good to have an opportunity to help make your life easier at this time.

Mike,

I am a nurse and I have seen a lot of instances where a person's faith, and will to keep going will amaze the doctors.  The most important thing to remember is God is our great physician and he has the final say in every matter.  I had a patient, (I work home care) who was diagnosed with breast cancer.  By the time she went to seek medical attention the doctors said she would not live to go home from the hospital.  She put her faith in God and not the doctors and as a result she lived another 10yr.  The doctors/nurses were all amazed at the fact that against all odds she continued to fight and win her battle against cancer.  She had an amazing faith in God and knew that it didn't matter what the doctors said, God had the final say in the matter.  I felt I needed to share this story with you because as a medical professional, I know that in medicine many times people leave out the important matter of faith.  Keep trusting in God reguardless of what the doctors say.  I am believing with you that in Jesus name she is whole!!! She is in my prayers

Mike:

What an emotional roller coaster you must be on right now!!  I am so grateful that the Lord put you in Leslie's life to give her the encouragement and support that she needs at this time.  And, WE will be here to give YOU the same encouragement and support!

Puppetlady is right about the faith/healing issue!  Reader's Digest even did an article on it.  The study showed that those with a faith in God, and a prayer life, had a 5-20% better healing rate than those that didn't!!  They could even lower their blood pressure by prayer too.

Lord, I pray that you use this opportunity to show the world your power and miraculous healing.  Fill Mike and Leslie with your peace and grace.  Give the doctors wisdom, that they might have the answers needed to win this battle.  Thank you Lord, that you have given them each other.  Give Mike an extra measure of strength in the days ahead to help support and encourage Leslie.  And, as we go about our daily routine, bring them to our minds often so that we may pray for them.  Through it all, Lord, we will give you the praise and glory.  In Jesus Name, AMEN.

Is there anything we can do?

Mike,

I was on your site and saw your blog.. I just wanted to say that I am keeping you, your wife and your family and friends in my prayers.

I am glad your wife's surgery went well and that she is home again. I have one of those chairs too. After each baby.. and when I am sick... that is the only place I want to sleep too.

May God smile on all of you and give you His peace.

Many Hugs and Prayers

Katie
