What does everyone have planned for Easter?  We are working on a play right now (we have about 7-10 kids so far from ages 3-10) for them to perform, but I would like to do some fun stuff with them also.  Any ideas?  What are you planning?

We are going to do Jerusalem Marketplace for the month of March (One lesson every Sunday until Easter).  I am so excited about the prospects of doing VBS twice a year! (can you tell I'm a regular VBS junkie??) On Easter, I think we are going to end the service with a large family easter picnic (provided the weather permits).  We had planned on doing a Easter play, but it is going to take so much work getting JM together before March, we just don't have the time to get it all done.

Palm Sunday weekend, on Saturday morning from 10-noon, we host a "Day of Wheels" event for children.  We begin the morning with a gathering in the sanctuary to share the Easter Story with the families.

After our storytime, we have an traditional Easter Egg Hunt, which last all of 5 minutes, but that plenty of time to gather enough eggs to fill everyone's basket.  Then, the children get to ride their bikes, big wheels, tricycles, heelies, skateboards and anything else motorless with wheels in our parking lot.  Since many children live on country roads, they don't get the opportunity to ride their bikes in their neighborhoods, so we rope off one side of the parking lot and let them ride for the rest of the morning.  We do rope off a special area for the preschoolers and set aside space for the order children, too.

We serve a simple snack of cookies and lemonade.  It's simple, laid back and easy to plan.

It is truly one of our most popular events.

Right now we can't afford anything like JM.  (our church is only 3 months old.)  So we're a small gathering but trying not to NOT do things because of it.  ya know?  But we only run about 10 kids (anywhere from 6-10.. never under 6. LOL)  I know I want to do something fun, and make this a great time for them.  The play is going to be our biggest production, but it's a lot of work, and I'd like them to have just relaxing fun time.

Hi, has anyone planned a Community Easter Egg hunt in the past or are you planning one for this year? I have some experience assisting with one, but am looking to plan one in the future (possibly not until next year). Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!

Sunday Morning Palm Sunday we are doing a part of the Jerusalem marketplace for youth and children - very short mostly dressing in costume and watching a skit and doing one center.
We are doing a new series of Sunday afternoon/evening events focusing on animals and theology - weird huh? God/dog Connection is the curriculum. We finish on Palm Sunday, March 16 and will do a blessing of the animals service with a picnic on the grounds. We hope this will bring in some new folks and encourage more family interaction. Easter Sunday we focus on worship - huge music banners, streamers dancers We have a congregational Breakfast between services and the egg hunt happens then it only takes a few minutes but the youth hide the eggs and the adults love watching the kids get and count their eggs.

I did see a Lenten Tree idea online recently.  I thought it was a really interesting idea:

Myself and another work with kids 9-17 as a group.  We all have snack then seperate for lessons.  However, plays and things we come together and do bc our church is small.

We are doing a human video to the song Breathe Prophecy.  We did a human video for Christmas to While You Were Sleeping and the church had never had anything like that there so it opened some eyes and they are hungry for the new ways to minister.

Look outside the norm....you will be surprised how well it is accepted!
