I am excited to be able to use the Web Toy Box, and have registered our VBS, and linked it to our church website (with the help of our webmaster who I happen to be married to) and actually didn't have much problem at all. But then I tried registering my kids to figure out how it worked, and discovered a couple of problems I don't know how to deal with.
When I register a child as a participant, of course I first have to put in the parent's info. If I say that the parent wants to volunteer, that puts them in my list as a volunteer who has not been approved. If I then as the director, decide that parent will not be a volunteer, and remove them from my list of volunteers, that automatically deletes their child(ren) from the list of participants. How is it supposed to work if a parent decides later NOT to volunteer, or if I decline to have them be on staff?
The other question I have is when I get to the info about the child, there is a drop-down menu for grade level. But there are no grade levels listed when I go to that drop-down menu. When I later go in as the director, I can access that list of grade levels, but not as a person registering my child. Also, I really don't care what grade a child is in...I would rather know their age. We are doing mixed age tribes, so we are not trying to sort by grade level. But we are saying that if a child is 13 we will consider having them be an "apprentice" in the shops or an assistant tribe leader, etc.
Thanks!

| I can answer question 2 for you. First goto your web toy box editing location, customize website, customize participant form. Ok now to make your drop down on the grades word you need to make sure ALL of the boxes are checked. That simple, had to figure that one out too. Ok now for you to get the kids ages, how about in the custome fields area type a question: How old are you now? or What is your age? Something along that and viola you are done. Save it. I will look into your other question and get back to you.

I also have a question to post about the Toy Box tool. First, I'm really grateful this is offered. We're now seeing some parents register their kids on-line. It's going fine. When I want to put them into tribes, however, toy box wants me to label those tribes as one age group, such as elementary, or as two (youth-elementary for example). I intend to put preschoolers, elementary, & youth in each of our tribes. I'm wondering why the tribes have to be labeled at all.

| My experience in deleting a participant or volunteeer is that the box that appears is designed as a warning. I have succesfully deleted individual participants and volunteers while maintaining other family members. I am using Power Lab's toybox, but I would think JM functions the same.
