| | We are thinking about making our own ice cream for the ice cream floats by playing a game. I'm still trying to come up with exactly how we will be "shaking our can" and making it pertain to one of the lessons. And obviously it would be the last part of the games before the move on. And we will have to schedule it so that they always go to snack right after the games that day. But here is the link on how to make ice cream in a coffe tin. http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/experiment/00000148

| Made this before at preschool and it was a big hit! I think your kids will really enjoy it.
For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me. Col 1:29

| On Wednesday, just make ice cream instead of slime. The message is that God can use hard times to change us and give us faith, patience, etc. Similarly, ice and shaking can change cream and sugar into ice cream. See the sci why discussion for slime. Also, the ice cream will float on the soda, kind of like Peter was able to walk on water. Now I may have to copy your idea for this - thanks.

| | My niece just made ice cream for her Girl Scouts and they loved it. She used quart size baggies, inside a gallon baggie for theirs then play music while the kids shake their ice cream. One thing she did suggest to me, is to switch off people shaking it because their hands get cold fast, but I thought a pair of gloves would solve that problem |

| | Here you go...some directions for how to make ICE CREAM IN A BAG (ususally I would attach a document, but I have the new version of Word and only a handful of people can open it) We Made Ice Cream! We put: 1/2 Cup Milk 1/8 Cup Sugar 1/4 tsp. Vanilla Then we filled half a BIG ziplock gallon sized baggie with ICE and 1/2 cup ROCK SALT Place the small baggie into the ice filled baggie. ZIP closed and rock the baggies back and forth for about 5 minutes. DO NOT SHAKE! .....my kids and I make ice cream this way all the time.....make sure to have dish towel handy to place around the big ziplocs...it gets cold. Also it is really yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!! The science lesson...... Would this work without salt? NO The salt is needed to make the ice even colder! MOre the salt dissolves, the lower the freezing point. |
