My life is chaos right now.  I'm not even sure where to begin.  I've only started on these boards this year, but I already know it is a place I can go for support.

First, we are a military family.  (I know there are other military spouses on here too.)  I have a 12 year old, a 10 year old, and a suprise blessing of a 4 months old.  I've been involved at our church since we joined 2 1/2 years ago.  I run the youth group and have helped with VBS. This will be my 3rd year, and I really jumped in completely when I heard the theme.  So, what's the problem?  We found out last week that we have orders to move to MD.  We will be leaving here approx. 2 weeks after VBS.  Thankfully we do ours at the very beginning of summer!  I'm so thankful that we will be here for VBS, but I'm disappointed that I may not be able to be as involved as I would like, since I will also be in the process of packing.  I fell in love with this church the very first time I walked through the doors and am going to have such a hard time leaving it.  Especially my youth group.

To add to it, this is the closest we've been to our families.  Right now they are only 8 hours away, so we've been able to go home to visit quite regularly.  We were able to be home when my dad past away a few years back.  And we were able to be home when my Mom married here high school sweetheart a year and a half ago.  Right before Christmas, my stepdad was diagnosed with colon cancer. They did surgery to remove his entire large intestine, and as soon as he is healed, he will start chemo.  He is worried about leaving my mom with a lot of medical bills, and has decided that after the first treatment, if it makes him too sick to continue to work, he will probably quit treatment. I don't want my mom to lose another husband. I can't be home with her to help them through it.

Overall, I just feel like my life has been turned upside down, and I'm not sure where I'm going or what I'm supposed to do when I get there. I am convinced that God has a purpose for me, and that there is a reason he is sending us further from home.  But I'm still having a hard time excepting it.

Anyway, I guess I've gone on long enough. Thanks for listening.

AmyLynne,

I don't have a lot of wisdom I can share, but I will certainly pray for you.  Change is always a hard thing, especially when it's not something you specifically chose.  Just keep reminding yourself that there is a plan God has in mind for you and your family, including your mom.  Your love will reach across the country, even if your arms can't.

Sending you hugs and prayers from Indiana!

I am so sorry you are going through all this...I pray you enjoy that VBS like there is no tommoro.  Maybe then you can forget about what tommoro really looks like.

Keep us posted, praying for your step dad too...I teared up reading that.

AmyLynne,

My heart and prayers go out to you. I can only imagine the turmoil you are experiencing, but you already have something wonderful and powerful that will comfort you. Something that will continue to guide you and sustain you through all of this. Something that many don't have and therefore end up either getting sick or making the wrong decision. You have CHRIST IN YOUR HEART. You have his Holy Spirit to guide you and you have enoguh fatih to know that He is in control and has a plan for you.

Yes, it seems very uncertain, painful and perhaps confusing, but remember that His ways are not our ways nor our thoughts His thoughts. He sees the bigger picture. He sees beyond what we can phantom. You have an awesome opportunity to bless many while doing this VBS. Do it with all your heart an passion. And although I thoroughly understand you falling in love with the church family, the parting away will be less painful if you concentrate on the one that deserves ALL your love. A Sunday School teacher once told me, "Be careful not to fall in love with a church or a pastor and his family, rather fall madly in love with Jesus. For when he calls you to move on you will do so with less pain and more peace." I will never forget those words for I to have had to relocate twice.

I know it must also be difficult leaving your family behind, but remember that God loves them even more than you do and He will take care of them. He had you there besides them for a time and He CAN make away for you to be with them again if they need you. For now just trust that your Father knows best and that wherever he leads you is where he also needs you. You are his vessel and he will use you and your family to bring glory to his name. I will continue to pray for you and yours. May the peace that (surpa sses) all human understanding guard your heart and mind as you surrender to the will of God.

Amy

I was a military wife so I know how you feel.  Its hard when you move. The part to remember its all in God's hands.   Where in Maryland are you headed.  I live in southern Maryland.   If you are headed to Pax River Naval Air station . You have someone hear from the board.  Email me and I will get back with you .  I have family back in Colorado and I do have family here now. In the military I was all alone when my husband was on deployment in California.  God show me so many things and got me thru so much. I had to learn to give it all over to the Lord.  Day to day I had to take it a step at at time. If you are header my way I have a special church for you to try out as well.  We have a new assosciate Pastor who is setting the church on fire for the Lord.  If you are headed to Annapolis area I have contacts for you that way as well.  Can't wait to hear from you. Wishing I could hug you and help you out.

God bless

Doreen

Hi Amylynne!

I am an AF wife at Dover in Delaware.. and I truly love the east coast. This for us is the closest we have been to family as well.. so I know what you mean about moving away from that.

What branch is your hubby? Because if he is AF.. did you know he can refuse one set of orders in his career and ask to be extended where he is?  My DH and I did that and it was one of the best decisions I have made yet. I have also found in my years as an AF wife that there is no definite on orders till the movers show up. .. I was supposed to be in japan right now.. but here I am.. closer to my family than I have ever been since we joined.. and it happened.. just 2 days before the movers showed up to take my fast shipment to the port.

Depending on where you are in MD.. I can help you on who would be your chaplins.. we had alot of them visit here when our priest and one of our other chaplins was out sick.  If you want.. you can e-mail me off the forum.. I know you dont know me from adam.. but if I can help you.. I would love to. I used to work in the relocation office at our last base and have tons of info on any base in the military. my e-mail is airforcewife334  at  yahoo  dot   com

Keep your head up and know that everything happens for a reason. God is always with you.

Hugs and prayers

Katie

I know it's a little premature, but welcome to Maryland! If you're coming to Harford County, our PL will be the last full week in June. If you're settled in by then, you're welcome to come help out so you can get your VBS fix!

God Bless!

I forgot to add something .  Our church started a military ministry.  I am in charge of the sunshine team.  when the husbands are deployed we make some sunshine come the wifes way and family.  Then someone else has packages sent to the husbands.   We have a list of people to contact for needs.

 God bless

Doreen
