Greetings friends,

So much has happened in our little church in NH, and as a result I stepped down as Superintedent and have been only helping out in Sunday school as opposed to directing all programs like the last several years.  (with a Joyful heart, I might add) I still am the leader for the Wednesday nite Jr. Youth.  That is not something I will trim.  Thankfully the Lord agrees and nothing has changed there despite efforts.  Ahem.  Excuse me...had to clear my throat.

I am sad and a tad ashamed to announce the incoming SS director is going with another publisher for VBS.  It's a copyright issue apparently.

We are continuing to use Group's outreach programs; i.e. Bethlehem village, Heroes...

I am so sad I will not be a part of PL as it looks amazing, but am treating myself to the copy of the music.  Maybe a set of Buddies too....

My heart breaks at the thought of the kids not getting Buddies and not seeing what Chadder is up to....but I have to trust this is in His hands, and as long as He is Glorified, I will be happy.

Thank you all so much for all the wonderful memories I have from being part of your wonderful community.  You have touched my heart more than you know and I will be checking in on you to make sure Kathy behaves and to pray for those needed, and to ask my prayer warriors when I find myself standing in the need.

It's a hard pill to swallow though....choking hard.

I love you all,

I sort of have the same problem. I just found out we are doing God's Big Backyard. I have been all excited, cause this is the first VBS i really love!! Well, I will still keep checking the boards and the website, and continue my PL file.

Thanks to ALL for the fun ideas!

I know it can be tough when God's will & way aren't our own choosing - I'm sure both your VBS programs can be fun & exciting - and most important share His love and grace with the kids that attend.

Is it possible that another church in your area is doing PL this year, and you could just offer your time as a volunteer during their VBS? I know there are some churches that struggle with getting enough volunteers - and I don't mean it in any way to take you from your serving your church, or over-extending yourself. But last year we had several adults from another, smaller church volunteer at our AR camp because their church was too small yet to commit to putting on their own VBS. Just a thought... to help you get a PL fix

God Bless!

Donna,

I will miss you as you were such an inspiritation to me and I am sure many others last year. Keep checking in and give us ideas even if you might be helping with another program.

How is your son's friend doing?

Donna, you better not cause us to miss you! You have been such an inspiring part of this community that a we can not allow a non-Group VBS to break us apart! Remember, no matter what the important thin is that the children get ministered to. Group does put out outstanding VBS material, but as long as a publisher does not compromise the Gospel message and it's main goal is to lead children to Jesus then all you need is a staff who commits itself to that same purpose and you will have a successful and blessed VBS.

As you already know this forum is not just about VBS. We are also here to lift up and encourage each other. You have been here for us all along and we pledge to be here for you always. So with that said, you better stick around!

Fellow Groupies:

It's sad to say that my church is not doing Power Lab this year either.  We are changing format, and doing a one day Bible camp VBS.  I hate to admit this, but I just wasn't too crazy about the Power Lab theme this year.  Although, as a nurse, I love when science proves the Bible!

I'm going to miss all your creative ideas.  The curriculum we are using has a small, I mean, SMALL forum.  So maybe I need to try to inspire the creative juices.  I still like to read this forum and stay in contact with all of you.

Cleaning out my VBS 3 ring binder (same one for 3 yrs!)  I came across the following prayer that PJ posted last year.  Boy, am I glad I saved a copy.  Because I have already ran across opposition and situations to try to distract me from God's purpose:

As VBS approaches for all of us, let us continue to see the face of the Lord and commit all our ideas, plans and efforts into His hands.  Keeping in mind and at heart the true reason why we have VBS.

Many of us have directed VBS or assisted in one way or another for many years.   Others are just getting their feet wet.  Regardless of our experience, we should all be prepared spiritually and emotionally to expect the inevitable, which is an imminent attack from the enemy of God and our souls.  VBS is not just a Summer program for kids.  It is, above all, a commitment to obey Christ's command to preach and teach the Gospel.  It is an open door to sharing God's love with children and adults alike and the opportunity to change their lives forever.  That is why I said to prepare for opposition.  From the simplist of incidents to major setbacks, the devil will most likely attempt to discourage you and hopefully prevent VBS.  Perhaps he may not stop VBS all together, but if he can get you to loose focus and worry about the "not so important" things, he will have succeeded nonetheless.

Maybe you're saying "been there, done that" and you feel that you are more than ready to face whatever may come, but rest assured that Satan is ready for you as well.  He is working on a new scheme to try to bring you down.  I write this to encourage you, to bless you and remind you to take time to pray and recharge during your busy planning, bargan shopping and decorating.  Put on the FULL armor of God starting today and to "trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  To acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will surely to direct your path."  But if you should happen to get wrapped up in the excitement, rest assured that PJ will most certainly be holding you up in prayer.  From now until your VBS is over.    I will be fighting for you and for me as we together commit ourselves to this ministry and allow God to use us for His honor and glory.

Thanks again, PJ.  And know that I will be praying for all of you as well.

It's for God's glory that we should do all things.

Our church has also switched VBS publishers!

It has been great knowing you friends
