After looking at the Alternate Crafts on the website, I have found that we are going with a lot of those this year.  After polling several adults (along with some of the kids at the church) we found that more people liked the alternate crafts (the shrinkies, the cup with the grass hair, and the sunshine bead bracelets) better than what Group was showing for the crafts.  We are also letting the kids decorate a neon tote bag to carry their crafts in and also to use after VBS.

It is on the main power lab page under freebies and updates.

You will find an alternate craft for each day.

I agree though.. I like some of the alternates.. we have decided to use the grass guy for one of our days.. and we are doing something different for another day too.

We are going to do the crazy cake mix I posted, the incredi-ball, slime, picture frame and prayer bracelet.

I haven't quite decided on what kind of frame to make this year.  I'm leaning more towards a glow-in-the dark one.

For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.

We got an magazine from oriental trading that had these really cool science guy type gl. they were foam and looked really cute. we might use them on day 2....so that we can "seethose who need our help." My husband thought they were cool. I tried to find them on the web site but i didnt see them. They also have some cool foam name tags that we are going to incorporate with day 1 craft. Here is what they look like. Everyone loved them!!!

I didn't think OTC had many crafts in the book, but I went on the website and typed science in the search and got quite a few items.  I really like the beakers though and will probably order them for the kids.

I found a lot of crafts ideas on oriental that we will be using to substitue for the group crafts. It the exact same idea and concept just cheapier. The first day is the only day that will be different we are using these star key chain sand art bottles and doing the same thing as the test tubes. The test tubes are cooler but they are still quite expansive.

On the second day we will be doing the exact same thing is group we just got it from Rhode Island Novelity fora bit heaper than group. But its the exact same thing. Day three we also got from Rhode Island Novelity and its the same thing to has a container to keep the slime in and everything. Day 4 we are just making the radical rez. Day fours options were not the best and we could not come up with anything else to match the meaning and story and everything. Day 5 we got hacky sacks from oriental that look like soccer balls and we are going to color the squares just like the group balls.
