| Here's an alternative that would cost pennies apiece and make a bouncy ball. Of course, it's ALOT messier than Group's craft!
Materials:
* 1 tablespoon white glue
* 1/2 teaspoon borax
* 1 tablespoon cornstarch
* 2 tablespoons warm water
* 2 plastic cups
* 2 wooden craft sticks
* Food coloring
What To Do:
1. Pour the glue into one of the plastic cups. Add a few drops of food coloring to the glue and mix with one of the craft sticks until your desired color is achieved.
2. In the second cup, combine the water and borax together and mix with the second craft stick. Stir until dissolved.
3. Add the cornstarch and 1/2 teaspoon of the borax solution to the glue and let stand for 15 seconds.
4. Stir with a craft stick until fully mixed together and the mixture becomes very difficult to stir.
5. Mold the ball in your hands. It will be sticky at first but will become more solid as you roll it in your hands.
6. You now have a bouncy ball. Try bouncing it. How high does it go? Store your ball in an airtight container or Ziploc bag so it doesn't dry out and crumble.

| | I actually found the same plastic beakers but with sand.. and they have the link thing for your bible buddies.. and there is also room if you want to put names on etc.. from Guildcraft. I also used OT for the slime and the hacky sac craft.. they have 50 hackys for 20$ and the slime is much cheaper there too.. and it comes in more than one color. The beakers from Guildcraft comes with the sand included.. it does not say that in the description.. but when I called to ask.. she looked at the packing list and it was on there.. so it makes it TONS cheaper.. no gel to buy.. and also you dont have as much mess.. we tried the gel thing with my 7 and 5 yr olds..I am still chipping gel off my table.. and it is tile!!! anyways.. I always check Guildcraft, OT and the teachers supply co before I get anything planned.. and also it helps me with my budget. Hugs Katie

| | I have to say...that if you are doing day 1 test tube buddie holder...we did ours but used hand sanitizer. it works wonderful and didnt get all over everything, or anyone. I know that when we get our "stash" of them we are going to try it again and add just a tad of water to make it a bit more movable. it was so cool!:D |

| Love those goggles/glas+ses! We are doing almost all the crafts from Group this year because they are so cool, but we will be doing more than one each day so we are looking at some from OTC.

| Do you have any of the "Sandy Test Tubes" from guildcrafts? I really like the idea, but would like to know how the tops fit on. As you can imagine there are some older members in the congregation that would not appreciate the colorful sand all over! |

| | OTC has design your own kick balls, which we are using instead of Groups. You get 50 balls for $19.95. |

| We are thinking about using these design your owntelescopefrom OTCinstead of paper towel tubes. It's obviously not cheaper but we aren't spending much on crafts for the preschool age.

| My preschoolers are making: Telescopes, Picture frames (gonna take their pics and print that night), the Lab Coat bag (thanks for that idea) and wacky goggles.... and PROPELLER HATS, I'm kinda excited about that.
Elementary grades will be a blend of Group's crafts and some my craft guy comes up with. I await his presentation :-)

| | I've made things with the colored sand before. We made sunsets in baby food jars for LLI. It is alot cheaper to tint your own sand with powdered paint. I think the kids would enjoy making edible test tubes. I did this at a bday party one time. You can use pixie sticks to make these and that way you don't have to mess with funnels.
