| | Okay guys, I know somebody has a good lead on where I can pick up inexpesive objects to fill "Resurrection Eggs" with. I'm going to do a scavenger hunt with the 4th through 8th graders on the Saturday before Easter. I want them to find the things in the Resurrection Eggs. I've looked at OT and found a few things like crosses made out of nails and foam donkeys. But I'm at a loss about where to find some of the other items like tiny crowns of thorns. Any ideas? Thanks! | Pam,
I have seen several different lists of items to put in homemade Resurrection Eggs, so I'm not sure what you're looking for (other than the tiny thorn crowns). If you have the patience or volunteers, you could make miniature thorn crowns from brown/black pipe cleaners - cutting small pieces to twist around a loop, with the pointy edges sticking out.
If you post the list of specific items you are looking to use, maybe other ideas would come to mind

| | Cassie, We had the flu hit our house and I just haven't had it in me to even turn on the computer Thanks for the pipe cleaner idea. Here's the list the Pastor gave me to work with and what I've already found: donkey (tiny, painted, wooden horse cut-outs); 3 coins (3 pennies hot glued together and spray painted silver); cup (plastic communion cups); praying hands (still looking for this one - was hoping to find inexpensive plastic glow in the dark hands - like what we all had as little kids); leather strip (husband is working on that one); crown of thorns; nails (OTC cross necklaces made out of nails - a budget spluge); one die (dollar store find); spear (still looking); gauze (another $ store cheapie); stone (my back yard ); light blue empty egg (asking for these for the congregation). So I guess it comes down to looking for praying hands, crown of thorns, and (tiny, not dangerous) plastic swords. Thanks for any leads! Pam |

| For your spears, would toothpicks work?
I'm not sure about the praying hands, either... if I come across anything, or think of something, I'll let you know.
My co-teacher for Sunday School will be doing the resurrection eggs with our class - she's teaching Easter Sunday, I have Palm Sunday and the Sunday after Easter. I'll find out what she uses for her eggs... maybe there is something that could be a replacement for praying hands, but still have same symbolic meaning....hmmmm
God Bless!

| | Pam, I can get you small plastic praying hands from a Party Favor store close to my home. How many do you need? If you are interested e-mail me. You can always save some money and just print them on cardstock and cut them out.

| | Hi, I bought some prayer hand stickers at the Christian book store. You can glue them double to a card board and cut them. Mine are gold and shiny green, very beautiful. For swords, in the past, I have seen plastic sword toothpicks in supermarkets, the ones we use for parties. I guess you have to cut them if not using the big eggs. |

| | I purchased the Nail Cross Necklaces once for a VBS craft, and to be honest they weren't the easiest necklaces to make. I did it with the teens, and they had problems with it. |
