I found a site called Crafts and More that has some inexpensive wood crafts that might work well for some additional projects.

They have a really inexpensive, basic mezuzah that might work well for the kids to paint.  OR . . . if your church is strapped for cash, you might buy these and use the savings to buy tribal banners or student newspapers.

They also have this fancier mezuzah that's just like the first one, but comes with some little stick-ons in the the shapes of yarmulkes, torahs, etc.

The torah pencil holder is inexpensive and could be cool if the kids wrote the Shema on a little slip of parchment and glued it to the front.

I haven't found any "wood" craft projects that I like so we are just going to let the kids assist the carpenter with hammering nails into wood, sanding, measuring etc. on whatever project he/she is working on.  We had a couple of shops last year where the kids didn't take a craft home with them and they didn't complain.  It also will save us some money!

The only other idea I have found is a "nail" cross that could be used?  It wouldn't even have to have the string on it for a necklace since there is a Jewelry Shop.

The kids LOVE to do that in the carpentry shop!  We had a local business donate some wood scraps and we just had a big bin of them in the shop alone with some big nails.  They were hammering away all week.  Every kid made the same thing -- a hunk of wood with a million nails in it.  But, depending on who you asked, it was a key rack, tie rack, book shelf, etc.

We've made that cross necklace and it's really pretty.  Just beware:  it takes about 4 hands to do, so make sure you have plenty of help in that shop.
