Please keep my husband Roger in your prayers!  He's leading a group of 10 from our church to go and work in Haiti for the week.  It's his first time going anywhere like this and he's a little nervous.

Of course, I'm not going to mention at ALL that there's a plane about to make an emergency landing in Miami right now.

So please lift him, Katie, Shannon, Shari, Vince, Brian, Rhonda, Sandy, Josh, and Russ up in your prayers this week!

I will pray for them..

Where are they going Port-au-Prince? That is the capital, but there is LaQuey too.

It will be quite a shock for them.  The smells, sights, hunger, street children.  Yet one of the places you feel His strength the most.  Please know this.

You will need to draw from Him too.  When he gets back the re-entry can be vicious.  John took 6 weeks, I pray it is a smooth transition for him.

If you have any questions, please ask.  Between the three of us we have 22 trips, Praise God.

I will be a Prayer Warrior for you and the team.

Please know that, Haiti has a very special place in my heart;

and I now seek prayer for your family too.

Blessings,

Yes, Donna, they are going to Port-au-Prince.  Here's the orphanage that they'll be working at:

http://www.hishomeforchildren.com/

Our church has been wildly supportive and they each are taking one suitcase with their clothes and another with formula, diapers, etc. for the kids there.  The folks who run the orphanage have given them very detailed instructions on navigating the airport/customs/transportation/etc.  I'm sure they'll be fine, but it will be so different, I'm sure.

Peggy, I'm shaking.

That's where we did Fiesta.  I am shaking.  Patricia is there, Francesca is there...oh my sweet Lord.

Please email me...tell Roger I know Chris and Hal.  This is so amazing.  He will be on Delmar 75....I can get us there!  Tell him to get Viola phone cards...someone will go buy them and he can borrow someones cell phone if he has a card.

I believe Noel still works there, one of the  young boys.  He can get him anything.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!!!

The kids SHOULD still have their Fiesta stuff, they did the last time we were there.

I am so shaking right now.....now you have to pray for ME!  Sorry....I still can't beleive it.

I want, no NEED to know everything.  Espeically Patricia...she is the most saddest story you will ever hear.  She comes from Cite Soliel.  That won't mean much to Roger today; yet if he goes there (which he probably won't it's been very violent as of late) but that's where she came from.

Tell Roger I was praying for him before, yet now I can SEE him there and even know where he will Worship.

Peggy, please call me if you need to, or want to this week.  Satan will be working; as you know.  Haiti is different, somehow.

Much love,

Madame John

PS  you will always be Madame Roger to me now.  You'll understand when he returns.  Auvoir, and Bons e benue.

I can't believe it!  LOL

Hal and Chris are from this area and we have met them already.  I am friends with Hal's sister-in-law as well.

What a strange, little world God has created!  I'm printing your message so that Roger can take it with him!

I was tossing and turning all night thinking about HIS place.  I have not seen them since Noveber 2006, my independent trip.  I did not work there at that time, the orphanage I worked at has since closed down.

Hal and Chris may or may not remember me, but I'm sure they will remember Fiesta with the kids.  I know Patricia is still there, I just checked their website last week.

Yes, a small world our Lord created.  I can't wait to hear what they are doing.  It sounds like they will be spending a lot of time at the babies home.  The older kids live around the corner.  That's where she is...

Of course so much may have changed; that's Haiti.  They will be blessed.  Are they ALL first timers on this team?  That's amazing, is Roger leading the team?

Sorry to be so nosy, I feel like an extention of your prayer team!

Here's the whole story.

Roger is leading the team.  One lady has been to Mexico and another couple to Africa on a mission trip, but it is everyone's first time in Haiti.

Late in 2006, Roger challenged the church to come up with an impossible task to see how God would work through us.  About a year ago, we had a churchwide brainstorming session one Sunday afternoon and came up with a bunch of ideas on what we might be interested in doing.

Out of that meeting came the desire for a mission trip somewhere and a smaller team of impassioned folks who would work on details.  From them came the idea to visit Hal and Chris in Haiti.  So they started planning and fund raising.

The church has been amazing in their support.  They needed about $14,000 for the whole trip and supplies to paint, build and do electrical work there.  HIS Home has apparently just purchased a new building that needs lots of work.

Every penny and more was raised by the church, families, business donations and some really creative ideas!  I've been blown away, truly.

But that's just the beginning.  After that brainstorming session one lady started a prayer shawl group who meets weekly for Bible Study and knitting/crocheting prayer shawls for people.  (She and I had looked into Stephen's Ministry but it was more than our little church could handle!)  We served meals to the homeless.  We've done real outreach into out community.  Our youth are going on their first ever mission trip this summer instead of taking a trip to a music festival or amusement park!  We've had several people go on mission trips to the gulf coast region, collected items to be used by para church ministries locally, etc.

Last week Roger preached on Faithfulness (he's working through the Fruit of the Spirit) and he asked them to start thinking about what's next!  I hear a buzz already about digging a well in Africa.

So God has really woken the people in our little church!  We have LESS THAN 100 MEMBERS, we're way out in the country in a totally white bread area, and we've just put 10% of our congregation on a plane to Haiti!  It blows my mind.
