| We have a good size stage and our backdrop covers the whole back of the stage. I am not coming up with any ideas for the backdrop and I like to make a powerful statement with it. Does anyone have any ideas or any pictures I could look at? HELP!!! Michelle Burkhart

| If you have a catwalk or some other way to hang things from overhead, you can do like Group did and hang pieces of corrugated tin. I am building 3 panels of vinyl tablecloth and will backlight them with old flourescent fixtures.

Check out VBS Groupies for resources to help with the planning of your VBS. |

| I too am doing the tin in between large pieces of cardboard. On the cardboard is going to be painted shelves and beakers like the videos.

| | Have you guys seen the silver corrugated stuff in the outlet? Cheaper and safer to use! http://store.grouppublishing.com/OA_HTML/ibeCCtpItmDspRte.jsp?item=1556175§ion=17722 Here are some painted backdrops from Grosh Scenic rentals (expensive, but great for ideas!)
This one is flowers, but it could be totally cool to do something like it, but "SPLATS" instead!
Or what about a "dungeon" feel?
This one made me think about doing something like the TV shown on the video, but GIANT!

| Group Outlet has a neon-colored block Scene Setter backdrop. That's likely what we'll be using.

| We have vaulted ceilings and paneling in our sanctuary. We can't put anything more than masking tape . So I look for big free standing props. We had someone donate a wallsize chalkboard, which we are going to put on wheels and write the point every night in flourescent chalk and have the Power Lab Logo on it

| A really cheap backdrop idea we use in our church basement (it's removable) is a 20 foot "come along" type strapping tie down (it's diagonal in a corner between two window frames) the tie down somes with "S" hooks on either end and we just put sturday hooks into the window fram to hook onto... the "come along" mechanism - you can catch a glimpse of it in the upper right corner of the photo allows you to hook the ends then tighten the strapping until it's taut and snot sagging... then we use shower curtains (in this case bright green - although the photo doesn't show the colour well) as the backdrop... the magnetic kind have little magnets in the bottom that help weight down the curtains so they don't billow everywhere...it's also been used as a dandy puppet stage! )In this photo it's being used as "star command" at my 5 year old's Buzz Lightyear birthday - sorry ... it was the only pic I had... but if you used this on your stage, you could use either a really bright colour or maybe grey for an industrial look...or i've even seen one that's white with multi-coloured circles (bubbles?)on it. The system we have cost us $1 for the 20 foot come along tie down, $1 each for 4 shower curtains (with rings) for a total of $5 from dollarama. - monica |
