Hi all...we wanted to do a time capsule questionnaire with our junior high kids on Easter and 'resurrect' it next Easter.

I am having trouble coming up with questions. The point we are trying to make when we resurrect it is 'see what you thought was important/popular to you last year has come and gone... but your family and Christ is always in your life.'

So if you have any ideas please let me know I have to have this printed out before this Easter.

THANKS!

How about throwing in a copy of the Keeping Current section of Children's Ministry Magazine...  Or use it to help you crafts some questions about what's happening in kid's world today.

Of course, if you are talking Junior High, listing the models of phones, IPod's, PDA's and Game systems that are hot this spring would be interesting in 12 months.  Seems those items go out of style faster than their trendy clothes.

AND here's another idea -  My sons' History teacher had her class write a letter to themselves to be opened in 5 years. They sealed them in an envelope, addressed the envelope and she mailed them 5 years later.  They got such a kick out of reading their letters to their future selves. My youngest son even put a 5 dollar bill in his letter telling himself he knew he'd need it because he'd surely be broke in 5 years. (How true, how true!)  Junior high kids are going through so much change, writing a letter a year out would be enlightening.

Excellent! Great Ideas!

My pastor also suggested things like 'what are you most afraid of'...to see if they are afraid of that next year. So I think all this will lead me on the right track!

Thanks!

OF COURSE! Here it is! Again, the lesson when they open it is look at what you thought was important a year ago. What stayed the same? GOD and your FAMILY. Hope it helps!

Hi brc23!

Thanks for sharing your survey! I'm going to use it with my new Club 56ers (Our 5th & 6th Grade transitional ministry).

I think I will start with my current 5th graders and let them open their time capsules the last Sunday of their 6th Grade year. It will be a great way to show their transformation and growth from "kids to teens" and a good way to launch them into Youth Ministry.

That's awesome! That's the grade my kids are in too. We are going to get a big rock and put their names on it and sealer to put over the spot where we bury it.
