| | So, I'm no math wiz, but I think I am onto something when I say that my Paid Staff hiring goals can be supported by this formula: A x B = C Where A = [average number of children attending on the weekend] B = .8 and C= [number of paid hours worked by children's ministry staff] The formula would go like this: [average number of children attending on the weekend] x 0.8 = [number of paid hours worked by children's ministry staff] Can you plug in your numbers and let me know if the number .8 is correct for your church? Right now we are operating with a number of .44 here at Cornerstone. Any math fans want to back me up on this? Christiaan VandenHeuvel Pastor to Children

| Christiaan - In knowing how many staff I need for my team to operate in our Children's Ministry, I have used this formula for budgeting reasons and it has worked well. We have 1 fulltime position for every 125 kids. This breakdown also could be that 1 fulltime position equals 2 part time people or 4 quarter time people but when I add up all my positions - it equals the 1 for every 125 kids. Hope this helps Kim

| | Christiaan, Can I ask where that formula came from? I think that ratio would could cause my Business Admin to experience a cardiac emergency. Larry

| | I was wondering the same thing too...believe me I am all for staff...I think it was Barna who said the average pastor can effectively pastor 200 people...that was pre his incredible "Transforming your kids into..." I wonder what he would think after writing this...as I am sure this does not factor in the kids dimension...and demand, even at just a care level...let alone ministry. Blake Caldwell

| | In Discovery Island we have 1800 (weekly attendance) x .8 = 1440 = 36 F T employees. We have 4 F T staff = 160 And 10 P T staff = 200 Total 360 hours Anita

| That would be lovely. Running our numbers we are at a .18. We have approximately 65 paid hours with 350 kids per weekend. We also have 150 on Wednesday nights. On the other hand we have a ton of volunteers which goes a long way. Mike

| | Wow! Here at Celebration Park we have 500 kids which should equal 10 f/t staff. What we have is 250 volunteers, 1 f/t director, 4 / 20 hr per week directors . OK so who do I send my request to? 500x.8 = 400 divided by 40hrs = 10 Check my math....Is that correct? Bonnie
