If any of you are done with your decorating dvd and want to sell it to me, I'd gladly take it off your hands (at a discount?).  Thanks.  carols@wideopenwest.com

Great idea Carol.  Me too.  I'd be interested in buying one from one of you before I ordered one.

I have received some great ideas from the DVD's in the past. However... we have never had a $500 budget to buy the stuff they suggest.  And if we did - that is a lot of $ to spend for ONE WEEK.

I'd love to see some alternate ideas on the DVD.  I often get the feeling that Group caters to mega churches and forgets that there are many smaller churches in the USA.

I would say that I somewhat agree. They need to keep in mind the smaller churches don't have the funds that some of the larger ones have to work with. I however don't think they should lack in their decorations and things. My suggestion is that they should offer a cheaper alterinative for the supplies they suggest using.

Hi all!

I also purchased the decorating DVD for the first time - my husband is heading up the decorations after getting the ball dropped on him last year TWO weeks before VBS started.  He pulled it out and did an awesome job, so he got "drafted" again for this year.  He is VERY confused on the printout of the materials list -- he has watched the DVD numerous times and has failed to find out where the 40 filters come into play or the 8-foot length of 1-inch PVD pipe.  If someone from Group could answer these questions, it would be super!!  We love Group, but don't feel our money was well invested in this particular DVD -- we were hoping for more instruction instead of entertainment.  If anyone has any insight, please post!  Thanks in advance!

I hate to agree with you guys...because Group has such an excellent program, but I am dissapointed with the JM Decorating DVD as well.  We only have a $500 dollar budget for our entire program.  We only have 30 kids who attend, because our program is for kids 3-6, so it's not as tight as it sounds.  However, I feel it is more important to get some of the extras for the kids rather than more decorations.  I only budget $50 for my decorations, plus whatever I put in from my pocket.  So at most I spend $100 for all my decorations!  I wouldn't even be able to buy all that foam, let alone everything else for JM!

God Bless,

Matt

I am guessing that you are all speaking of the Decorating Places DVD? Has anyone bought and reviewed the Clip Art, Decorating, and Publicity CD set? I was trying to decide which one to purchase and now with the bad reviews for the DVD, I'm wondering about the CD set.

Allison:

The Clip Art CD is DEFINITELY worth the money!!!  The CD has alot of great stuff and actually has good decorating information on it.  We purchased both the DVD and the Clip Art CD and will get more use from the CD for sure!

Hope that helps!!

You will half to search and ask questions... 90% of the foam that I used is free. The best place is construction sites.. you need to go during working hours and ask for the foreman. Just explain what you are doing and ask if there's and scrap or broken pieces that you can have. On big union jobs if the corner is broken the whole sheet goes to the dump.

Also look at the home centers for damage pieces and don't be afraid to make an offer for it, you may be surprised what they will take. If stockboy Joe dose not seam willing to help or runs and hides, go to service desk and ask for a manager explain the story to them and see if they willing to donate Donate DONATE... don't you just love that word!

Get out the Yellow Pages and call foundation contractors and commercial roofing contractors to see if they would be willing to donate (there's that word again).
