Did I understand it right that all kids will snack at a certain time?  If that's the case,  everyday a group will miss Sonic Sing and PLay for snack preparation?

What part in the daily schedule should the groups go and prepare snacks for the entire VBS?

I appreciate your input.  Thanks!

You can do whatever works best for your program. We do the two hour VBS so games and snacks share the same time period. The crew goes to games for the first 10 minutes and then to snacks for ten minutes where they eat and do the challenge wrap . My snack lady with her volunteers fix the snack so they are ready. We do not have everyone eat at the same time.

They give up their games time on a rotating basis so that each crew only misses one day of games. Spotlight drama is shot the same time each day but because the kids rotate, different faces get into the show each day. The schedules change daily as to which site you go to at a given time. One crew may have games at 9:30 one day and the next day not until 11:00 so that different kids arrive each day at a given site at a different time than the day before. (Except Monday and Tuesday because the preschoolers make the snack that day while kids are meeting together in the opening so the first rotating crews make the snack starting Tuesday--this is assuming you create your VBS like Group wrote it.)

We have each group fix their own snacks as they rotate through.

Becuase the snacks are easy to make... I will just lay the items out for the kids... we have a HUGE fellowship hall that we split with both the crafts and snacks... I clear all of the tables out of the 1/2 of the snack area..

I just put the stuff in bowls and each kid gets a plate... we're blessed that the congregation provides unlimited plates/bowls etc for us to use! I probably have pictures from last year's snack group... While we're in the small groups for snacks we discuss High/Lows of their day/lives... we do this in Sunday School every week and it really gets the kids talking and oepning up to their leader and making friends in the group.

Listening to the call God has for me!

We have everyone come together for games and snacks. Everyone does games first except for a different set of crews each day. They work on the snack while the others play. Then, they all eat. I wasn't sure about pulling crews from games the first time we did it but they loved making the snack. They even ask if they can skip games again to make the snack.

This year we are trying something new. We will have each crew prepare their own at their tables during the snack time. We will make the Spotlight Drama a separate station this way no no misses the most anticipated station of them all, the GAMES! Ingredients will be set and Crew Leaders will help in the preparation as the Station Leader(s) instruct them and give the lesson.

Hi PJ,

I saw your online.  I have another question about staff training.  If my VBS is June 9-13, when should I do the staff training,  Im afraid if I will make it too early, volunteers will forget.  If its too late, then they will cram.  We will have recruitment Sundays this April 6 and 13.

Thanks for your help.  Your site with all the templates is such a big help.
