| | Hi, In the past, we have been presenting song numbers to parents on the last day to let them know what they learned. We were able to practice the songs because the music is one of the stations so its easier to teach the songs to 20-25 kids at a time rather than 100 kids at a time. If we are going to follow Group's sched, what are we going to do on the last day since we can't even coach them their placement in the stage or the singing will not be really that excellent. In the past, the music station acts like a rehearsal for Friday's performance. What is your program in the last VBS day? Nice Nice

| | We run our closing on Thursday evening due to lots of outsiders who are churched elsewhere. We recognize our site leaders, cover the daily bible points, and intersperse songs using the DVD. We don't worry about staging because it's not about performance to us but about sharing what they did. We usually do what we would do at the daily finale in the morning and save it for night and present our Kid to Kid offering at this time instead of the last day. We run a video of the week and we feed them a snack of some sort. |

| We still sang some songs last year. We told the crew leaders where their crew would stand and it only took a couple of minutes for them to place their crew. We also make a big presentation of the operation kid to kid mission project. Then we let the kids go outside to a little carnival we have set up. This year among the games we are going to have experiments for them to do with their parents.

| | Hi VBS girl, How do you do the big presentation of the Operation kid to kid? Did you show the video ? What did the kids do after the video? Do you ask them to go in front to put their soccer balls? Nice

| | Since we have a night program, the last day is on the same schedule for the children. We simply invite our parents to join us for Fusion Finale. We also invite parents to attend Fusion Finale on Day 4. Since that is the night we concentrate on the Salvation message, the Senior Pastor speaks briefly and we give time for children to come forward and talk with him while everyone sings our more contempletive praise song. Last year, it was Were You There. This year it's going to be Untitled Hymn. Back in the day.. before the expansion of Year Round Schools in our school district, we had a morning VBS. (Ah, those were the days!) We always hosted a Hotdog lunch for families after closing on Day 5. The children got to lead songs and our crew leaders visited around to meet all their kids' parents. We kept it to one hour so that working parents could attend on their lunch hour. The idea has always been to include the children's families in the VBS experience since we've already communicated the Daily Points and Bible stories throughout the week by daily Newsletters, Daily Challenges, etc.

| | We start a little earlier on the last night and invite the entire families to a casual meal (we've done pizza, burgers/hot dogs, etc.) Then we proceed as a normal night and send the parents with their children to participate in the various stations, we just leave out the snack station. This usually allows for a few extra minutes at the Finale section. We go through all of the songs at the closing of the final night and review all of the Bible points from the week. We also show a slide show with pictures from the week and distribute any prizes (who brought the most friends, answering various trivia type questions based on the weeks' activities, etc.) Our pastor usually speaks briefly to the families during finale, too. |
