Are you using helium or not? If not, you don't use string. You twist the balloons together in groups of 4 and twist those around the PVC. Put them close together and you don't see the pipe. We have wrapped the pvc with wide ribbon if we do a column, just to be sure we don't have white shining throough somewhere.

If you use helium, it is going to show. Wrap it with paper or ribbon first to make it blend in.

Ok, so the balloon arches and clusters are really cool and I would like to purchase the qualatex balloons, but I am having trouble finding them.  Does anybody know a web site.?  Also I keep hearing to tie two balloons together.  Do you knot each one first then tie together or do you use string or what?  Help!!  Pandy

Hi! several years ago we used the Balloon Gallery wholesale company. They carry Qualatex. Their website is not very extensive but they do have an 800 number (800)-624-1225 and are more than willing to send out catalogs. They are VERY helpful and like the one on one customer service that a phone call gives.

http://www.balloonandnovelty.com

http://www.mbd2.com/latex.htm  (this is the Pioneer balloon website, the makers of qualatex balloons).  They are also in Canada if anyone on here is from Canada.

You tie the the top of each balloon to close it off. Then pull the ends (that you just tied) and tie them together.

i had a great idea for this...how about an arch that they use at weddings?  they are arent that bad used...i found this one for $30

you could attach balloons to it and not have to worry about the wire...i did not buy this so cant tell you how well it worked, but thought i would share the thought.

You can buy garden arches at Michaels and other craft stores for around $20. However, you have eto attach the balloons and that would be a problem.
