so.. we are in a rut. out youth are getting tired of routine and we need a radical change.
we are looking for ideas for what students can do before service starts.. also what we can do one day during the church time that is not "church".. just an even that could take place during that time where the students could all be together and just do something different.
money is super tight from the pastor down to the youth and all of us in between, so cheap ideas are very much appreciated,
as far as the night of the event that we have not planned..
when i was in youth.. the biggest hit we had was the day we went to the mall and measured things with bananas.."this counter is 14 bananas long".. but that sort of stuff is hard to do mid week..
any ideas?

| | Hi...this is not a midweek idea, but something we did at my church in PA w/ the Youth was this: Every month that had 5 Sundays, the youth would not attend OUR service, but would go to the local nursing home and help transport the residents to the service held there in the dining room. They sat w/ them thru the service and helped w/ the song sheets, etc, then took them back to their rooms. This did require a little orientation from the nursing home before we started, but it was a GREAT experience for the kids and the older people LOVED it! Usually once each year, our youth would actually LEAD the service, which was just awesome! Hope this helps! Blessings! Kimberly

| | I think the teaching is more important than the activities but that might just be me. Any youth group from the scouts to the local teen center can do activities but what you offer is solid Biblical teaching. Kids are craving answers to their spiritual questions. They also need someone who genuinely cares about them. Sometimes you can get your energy renewed by attending a youth conference. Sometimes you just need to do a retreat to reconnect with what is really important. I hate to sound arrogant but visit my web site to see if you can pick up any ideas. I've been adding stuff regularly and lots of links to other sites with great stuff too. Start at this page: http://coconutmtn.com/10waysyouthgroup.html Email me directly if you need more help. Keep up the good work you were created to do.
