Awesome robots!  Great idea to encourage the children to become involved and have ownership of the VBS.

We did have a lot of fun.  And it was a good warm up to Power Lab for those who didn't know much about it yet.

The kids were the only one's who let me take their pictures!  Half the robots were family projects and half were done by "grandpa" guys.

The picture I put on the forum is of my youngest daughter.  She's 8.  She thinks Dr Vunderbarr might have been her grandpa, our pastor.  But is mostly convinced that he is a real guy, even though she was up close to him.  Gotta love that she's still a "little" girl

I'm just happy to have a couple of life size robots that will take up some stage space !

We have one (a costume) made from a trash can, Christmas lights, the insides of a/c ducts, etc. It is mega awesome.

Would love to see a photo of your robot. Could you post a picture?

Love the idea of everyone making a robots.... getting more people involved. Going to put the call out this for "Robots by Us". There should be a tag line here... " Don't follow the guy (robot) in front of you... seek God for direction."

LOVE this idea.  I'm sending in a list of rules for our bulletin this week.  What rules did you use?  THANKS

LOVE this idea.  I'm sending in a list of rules for our bulletin this week.  What rules did you use?  THANKS

We basically had two rules: 1) the robot had to be made entirely from recycled/reused materials - you were not allowed to go buy anything at all; and 2) it had to be non-functioning - no electronics, electricial, mechanical, etc. parts.

Then we set a deadline for the robots.  We had everyone at church vote by clapping/cheering for the robot awards like the shortest, the shiniest, the most colorful, etc.  Each robot builders received a Power Lab water bottle as their prize.
