Hello all,

We have a children's drama team which is currently working on Narnia!! Anyways they have been able to get all the costumes except for one...the lion Aslan. The one they have found is over $300 and that was the cheap one! OUCH!! The budget doesn't allow that for one costume! I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas or suggestion as to where we can find on! It would be for a teen! Thanks

Lydia

Ever thought about doing a simple body suit then just painting the face.  Think Lion King on broadway.  It would be cheaper and less hassle.  Just a thought.

Sounds cool though!  Good luck with it!

You could also make a head dress out of fake fur with yarn for the mane and then paint the face.  If you look in pattern books you might be able to find a pattern for a lion costume.  I know they have them for kids sizes. Hope this helps

An easy fix is one I used many times when my girls were dancing.  Get a tan or light brown sweatshirt and sweatpants.  Add fur around the HOOD and wrists and ankles.  You can easily make a tail from felt and add a fur tip.  The face makeup is the key...I never did this myself, but I know one of the other moms had a book that showed a picture and how to do it...check Barnes and Noble or Amazon...they will surely have something.  The nice part of doing it this way is that if you need to do it again, you can remove the "lion parts" and the next child to play the part just needs a sweatsuit.  AND this can be adapted for many different animals.  Hope this helps!  Blessings!  Kimberly
