I had planned to order the Cinema Science Kit, but the outlet now states it is out of stock until June 6.  My VBS starts June 8.  What do I do now?  What could we use in the place of the "test tube-balloons" and the expando powder?

check out the nearest school supply store. I got a package of four balloon in four different colors. They are longer but still work the same. I saw the powder in the science aisle.I do one big order from Group and then for smaller items I usually look local as I hate to pay shipping.

I'm in the same boat!! VBS starts June 9th!!

ADVISE - should I go ahead and order the science kit (AND HOPE IT COMES ON TIME) or should I buy supplies seperately - like the testtubealoons, balloons, hexnuts. Reactor paper - at an office supply store.

Group - tell me what is my best bet!!

Check your local christian bookstore.  The ones here have powerlab items for sale on the shelves.  Also check Ebay.

I have asked all over for expando powder and reactor paper. People don't have a clue to what I am asking for. Has anybody found where you can buy these it?

steven spangler science has some  paper . I don't know about the pens. Group has the kit all nice and neat in the kit mine arrived friday . With my shirts for my choir.

I am so excited.  I only needed one kit for the elementary. With all that has happen with vbs this year I am praising the Lord I ordered just in time.

God bless

Doreen

I got my paper from Steve Spangler - it was like $8.95 for 100
The invisible pens (along with a pocket black light) I ordered from Steve Spangler also. The pen/light combo was $6.95, but you can order pens separately for less.
You can probably also get expando powder from Steve

The balloon / hex nut you can probably buy on your own.

Good luck to you!
Blessings,
Janet

For anyone who still hasn't found what they need.  I have an Educational Innovations catalog - they have a website and they have "spy pens" that are the same as the reactor pens and include the UV light at the other end. However, the pens are $5.95 a piece.  The expando powder is the "sodium polyacrylate" - it is $6.95 for a 4oz pkg. and the paper is the golden rod paper sold in a lot of craft sites, the ones from this site are $7.95 for 100 sheets.

I believe everything I have wrote is equivalent, check it out for yourself.  If you really want the kit, email me (email me by clicking the email link on the bottom of my post -don't post your email address because I may not re-read the thread) and I will send you a link to a site I found that sells the outlet items - obviously I can't post that link and I haven't tried them out so I am not sure
