Hi,

I used the Group customer service line and found them very helpful.  I was able to order the supplies needed for Cinema Science except the hex nuts and balloons which I can get locally.  Thanks Group!

Hi VBS directors!

I wanted to get you an update on Cinema Science! The kits are due in June 6 although we are trying to get them in sooner. In the interum, we are bringing in individual components for the Expando Powder, Invisi-pens and Reactor Paper. We already have the Test Tube-a-loons. Those materials will be available to ship by this Friday, just in time for your late May and early June programs. You'll need to pick up the balloons and hex nuts (M10 metal nut) on your own though.

Please call 1-800-635-0404 and we'll get you fixed up!

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks so much and God bless your VBS!

Sunshine and Blessings,

Jill Foye

.. the paper is the golden rod paper sold in a lot of craft sites, the ones from this site are $7.95 for 100 sheets.

I believe everything I have wrote is equivalent, check it out for yourself.

Warning,I don't believe this is correct. The paper is NOT just goldenrod paper, because of how it reacts Red to the lime juice/windex mixture.
Can anyone shed more light on this?

This is an must have item to run Chadder's Theatre. Why wasn't this included in the kit? Or at least one with every Cinema Science manual!!!!!

OH how I AGREE WITH THIS! It is SO essential, why isn't it included? Or at the very least, made very clear that you need that kit to run Chadders theater!
I hate finding 3 weeks before I don't have something that is very essential! Ugh.

I called groups yesterday and was able to order parts of the Cinema Science kit seperately since the kits were sold out.  They had reactor paper and the slush powder.  It was only about 1.99 each (enough for 50 kids).  For the test-tube-a-loons, look for those under a search on the internet for windbags.  Still on the look out for invisible ink pens that react to blacklights.  Carol

Here is a quote from the Steve Spangler Site.

"The term goldenrod is typically used to describe a color of paper - golden yellow. Certain brands of goldenrod paper contain a special dye that turns bright red in solutions that are basic like ammonia water or washing soda. The paper turns back yellow with an acid like vinegar or lemon juice. Learn how to use this special color-changing paper to develop a hidden message."

Based on it, I would say that some papers work; others may not.  Hope this helps.

I just received my blacklight invisi pens from deal extreme and they are awesome.  They are the same purple invisi pens with the blacklight on the top of the pen as sold at teachersource and other places, but for a fraction of the cost ($1.67 each) and with no shipping, you can't go wrong - thanks tkinsa!  I think it would be awesome to have their crew names wrote with the invisi pens on their name tags and each leader have a blacklight to "reveal" the crew they are in, that might take away from Chadder experiment - just thinking out loud!

The golden rod paper from steve spangler or teacher source is equivalent to the reactor paper in that it will change to red and back to yellow.  Just read the description of the paper before purchasing to be sure yours will react.  Test tube-a-loons known as wind bags or wind tubes are sold at steve spangler, teacher source and other places.  The expando powder is also found on steve spangler, teacher source and I am sure many more sites, it has various names - look at earlier posts for all the names.  By reading the manual you will see it needs to not only absorb the water, but stay (at least for a short time) in the cup when you hold it upside down, so it is NOT the insta snow.

Of course, if you are very concerned call the Group Rep and they can help you out.  As posted earlier, they are selling the items individually (except for balloons and hex nuts?), so you would be sure to get what you need. Someone posted they are only $1.99 each for 50 kids, that sounds like the best deal to me and you can continue to support Group. Does that mean you get 5 blacklight invisi pens or whatever for $1.99?

Blessings and good luck to all,

Lisa in FL
