| Hey all, I am needing some publicity ideas! We have our major fundraiser over Memorial Day Weekend. During the weekend, we have lots of people pass through our foyer (which is mainly used for people to stand in a line) and no one uses the space, so this is a prime publicity spot! I need a fairly large something to make to get the word out about our JM! It can be on a table or stand on the ground, but it just has to attract attention! Help! God Bless, Matt

Matt -- I don't know what you use for shops -- we have PVC frames with fabric curtain walls. During our recruiting and publicity season, I set up one of the shops in the church lobby and put our sign-up table in it. I don't go crazy with props or anything -- the shop is enough to attract the attention. You could set out some tribal blankets and maybe have a few of the tribe banners hanging around, if you have them.

I am planning to make a board (large poster board or small bulletin board, depending on where I am able to set it up) for part of our fundraising effort. I plan to use the Jerusalem Marketplace logo (sort of) & make a scene with the buildings, sky & ground below. Then I will put small cut-outs of children like they are walking to Jerusalem. The idea, and I am not sure how to word it on the board, is that people can take a cut-out off the board & attach $20 to it & then put it in the basket in order to sponsor a child to go to VBS. I did a similar board for Bethlehem Village, cutting all the shapes out of paper to make up the village, and it looked very nice. It is really not that difficult to do if you just enlarge the shapes on the computer. That time we used it as a place to put registration forms. I am just hoping this works for fundraising this time!

| I have had one of your standard church 6 foot tables decorated for a while now with a tribal blanket and another small area rug on top of it, and a variety of pottery, baskets, menorah, mezuza, spices, bandanna, yarmulke, Jerusalem News--you know, stuff from the Director's kit placed on the table. Behind it, on the wall, I hung a banner and signs for all the shops, and a large poster announcing our dates for JM. It has caught plenty of attention from both members and visitors. I plan, later this month, on erecting one of the canopies outdoors with it decorated up to be one of the shops. We have enough space for this to be near the main front doors and can be seen as people enter. If I was in a church with a large enough narthex (ours is too small), I would put all 12 tribal banners on banner poles and stand them in a semi-circle, with a variety of items on a tribal blanket on the floor in the center of the semi-circle. Just a few thoughts.
