| | I'm going to keep it pretty simple too. I am planning a covered dish supper before we go to the sanctuary. We use a large screen to play the DVD with the songs so I will invite everyone to sing the songs. I also plan to play all of the spotlight dramas from all of the nights for everyone to see. I will review briefly our power verses with the kids' help. TaDa! Simple. |

| Our cinematographer for the week is a professor at one of our local colleges. She invited her colleagues in the chemistry department to come and "perform" scientist antics. They used liquid nitrogen to create illusion, freeze things and concluded with "making" ice cream for the closing session. I only wish I could figure out how to use the liquid nitrogen in worship.

| Ours is super simple. Our VBS runs 5-8 in the evening. We just invite the parents to Faith Fusion Finale at 7:30, then show a powerpoint made from pictures we take throughout the week (I add little funny things to the pictures ) that lasts about 10 minutes. Then we all go down to eat sub sandwiches and visit. Real simple, but the parents get an overview of the program since the the last day's Finale is a review of everything, and it's not long and there's food, which is my favorite part! |

| Just responding because I didn't see anyone mention the closing production that Group provides...you can find it on the web site under Freebies...that always works wonderfully for us. Since our VBS runs mornings we do this Friday night. We build excitement during the week and some say it is the highlight of the whole VBS program. This year though I am changing the lead character for the daily and closing show, making it a male decendent of Albert Einstein and the closing drama will be changed too from the script to a Lab rather than a tv talk show. It will be a lot of writing, but the closing drama always has great impact on the families.

| | We run our VBS the week of our annual church celebration... so monday - friday we run vbs - sending home invites to the festivities on saturday... on saturday afternoon we play games with kids and adults - typical summer picnic games - kite flying, water balloons, races, mini putt (we have a mobile 12 hole course someone made several years ago), etc, then we have a bbq dinner (hotdogs, burgers, salads, corn on the cob, ice cream) then we have an evening concert with various bands - but the VBS kids start off the concert by singing 3 songs on stage and then we watch the spotlight drama / other slide show... it's a fun day and not much stress on the kids since they know the songs by day 2 anyway! - and it's an easy thing for unchurched folks to attend - picnics are pretty universal ! - monica |

| We do our closing on night 5. Instead of doing the rotations that night, we invite family and friends to come. We do all the songs, and present the Bible Blast and Chadder right to the parents. We review the power points, and verses. We show a slide show for the week and the pastor says a few words. (Not in that order). Then we have hot dogs and ice cream. We are a small church and really use VBS as an outreach. We only have about 15-20 kids here on a typical Sunday, but we are expecting 50 kids for VBS. We want to have an opportunity to really reach the parents as well.
