| | For those of you who don't have an AC Moore, you can also go to Michaels this week and get 25% off your total order. They had coupons in the store. They also I think have a 40 or 50% of 1 item coupon. I was there on Saturday, before the coupons started and my 6 yr old daughter told the lady we were getting ready for VBS so her manager said we could use the 25% off coupon early. I bought some little fake herb plants that have signs that say sage, lavender and basil. They also had a few other herb looking stems on sale. I purchased 30lbs of clay and I think it was $18 before the coupon. They also have some small crates in the wood craft area. I bought 2 for our "Farmers Market". We are having the candy shop, bakery and farmers market be "browsing shops". The others shops will be changing throughout the week and the kids will go to a specific shop on a specific day. We needed to control the cost & quantity of supplies, rather than just let them roam free. However, now I might be needing some more supplies. We planned for 60 kids and we have about 52 right now. Our VBS starts June 9th. Yikes! Denise from GA |

| Michaels would sure be easier than ordering on line & paying shipping! What kind of clay did you find there? I am liking the sound of the self-hardening clay that several people have recommended, and it looks like you can get 25lb at Dick Blick's website for $19, and the shipping is not too exorbitant. I think I will check Michaels out, tho, before I order anything. Thanks!

| | I bought the amaco terra cotta clay. They sold it in 5lb & 10lb boxes. I also only needed 25lbs, but it was the same price for 30lbs. I ended up paying about $14 for it with the 25% off. Yes, the self hardening is what you will want. The thing I noticed when we did some test ones is that you may need just a few drops of water on them to keep them looking smooth while making your project. We did some without water and they just looked kind of dry and were harder to work with. Then I had my kids dip their finger tips in water and just kind of smooth them out and then when they dry they keep the smooth look to them. Denise from GA |

| | That clay you all have gotten is what we just finally decided on too...those coupons help and bunch and so does the tax exempt status! I was trying for weeks to come up with something cheaper but, in the end we are doing the clay but, on a smaller scale.!lb is a lot I'm thinking oh maybe a small ping ball size or a little larger for the kids to work on will do. On the clay tablets...I came across foam board for 100 kids which is my guess when we have our V.B.S. on the 23rd.2 or 3 of those large ones are enough. The clay also was a major problem for me I thought of using that clay we all have played with as kids but, now they only sell them in small bags (size of a stick of butter) or a bunch of them (like 5 sticks). But, for all the kids we are working with even though in my sample it worked out great!Mushing up the vibrant colors was a pain then rolling them out was tedious (seran wrap over it and a rolling pin). But in the end and cost I figured polyermer clay was the ticket. It won't dry out and it sticks to the surface just fine I have a friend of mine and we are using her large pasta machine to press them out.The cost well it was about $50. but, what I got was a huge brick size of the stuff and I don't need much! Thank GOD!!! |

| | Hi Everyone, We are in the middle of VBS. We have a potter in the area that we were able to purchase clay in a block that is 26 lb for $10.00. We are making cross necklace and the potter is firen them as well for us. The kids love making they our cross and adding some cheap beads. On the Clay table we used the handy plank siding ( about $20).The siding is 8 1/3 inches wide and 12 ft long ,so we cut the squares 8 inches used a small wooden rolling pin to roll the clay out on the tablets. Then place them in 1 gal. Ziplock bags every night . And we will have some left over. This VBS has been GREAT. tax lady |
