Were you making bubble solution for the kids to just have their own container of, or were you doing the Giant (stand inside a) Bubble bubbles? I would think that these would have to br made of some tougher stuff than just blowing bubbles solution.

I have a question on the bubble solution.  How much glycerin is used in place of the corn syrup?  I read the old thread, but no amount for glycerin was given.

Blessings,

I was wondering the same thing.  I might use the glycerin so we don't have ant issues.  Any body know how much?

Hi all,

A basic recipe is
4 cups of warm distilled water( They are saying distilled because of the iron content in reqular water- try a test with regular water to see if it will work)

1/2 cup regular dawn

1 Tablespoon of undiluted liquid grycerin

Stir gently as you do not want a lot of foam.

Most of the recipes I found say to make the day before as the solution gets better. Some said it can last up to three days.

Lets all go blow some bubbles

Just wanted to pass on that Dollar Tree has a package of 9 bubble wands for a dollar. They are different sizes. Before the kids get to stand in the bubble. They get to try blowing regular bubbles by dipping the wands in the solution. So you will need enough of these for each rotation.
If the little ones don't want to stand in the bubble or afraid, just let them blow bubbles.

IF YOU CAN'T FIND BUBBLE WANDS AND WANT THE KIDS TO HAVE A CHANCE TO BLOW BUBBLES, LOTS OF THINGS WORK, LIKE THE RINGS OFF A SIX PACK OF SODA, THEY CAN BLOW AND MAKE LOTS OF BUBBLES AT ONE TIME OF DIFFERENT SIZES.  MY KIDS COULD NEVER WAIT FOR THE FIRE WORKS ON THE FORTH SO WE ALWAYS HAD BUBBLES TO PLAY WITH UNTIL FIREWORKS STARTED.

I recently contacted our local children's science museum because I knew in the past they had a hands-on display called Body Bubble. Children would stand inside this circle and pull on a cord, a hula hoop would rise from the floor and encase the child inside a huge bubble. I emailed them to ask what they had used to make their bubble solution. Wow, what an answer I got. Frank at the museum not only gave me the recipe for the solution, which includes glycerin not corn syrup, but he also gave me the science behind bubbles, and instructions on building my own Body Bubble machine. My father is going to build it for me. I will use it at VBS and again this summer when the children have a carnival to raise money to go toward a special mission project I have had them involved with this year. I don't think VBS will be enough to quench their "Bubble Thirst."

Below are the solution recipe and the science behind bubbles. If you want the instructions to the machine, email me and I'll send them to you.

Mix up a bubble solution of 2/3 cup (160 ml) Dawn™ dishwashing liquid and 1 tablespoon (15 ml) glycerine in one gallon (3.8 l) of water. We have found that more durable bubbles form if you let this solution age for at least a day, preferably for a week.

FINALLY, Frank did mention that Body Bubbles work best inside. He says that because they are so big, if the wind blows they are easy to break. Did anyone in the field test have a problem with this? I am trying to decide if I should put the bubble machine inside or outside. After all the work of making it, I don't want the bubbles to keep popping in the wind.
