| The gentleman at the museum who gave me their recipe for their Body Bubble mentioned that you could use Joy detergent also. The museum had this Body Bubble display years ago, long before Ultra Dawn existed, so I would go with the regular dawn since it has been found to be tried and true(if you can find it). Sam's Club carries regular Dawn in big bottles. Try there.

| ok, so what i have from reading everyones thoughts on this...
- Dawn original works best, and can be found in big bottles at Sam's Club
- The whole solution should be made a night or two before for best results
- Glycerine solves an ant problem if you do it outside
- Wind factors in so consider inside as well *thank God for plastic tarps*
- The solution is reusable
- Tap water works just as well as distilled water
I'm leading Games this year and I want it to be unforgettable, especially this. anything else, other tips? Thank you for adding this, it makes things really easy.

| | We bought some bubbles and a bunch of bubble blower type things at dollar tree. Last week we were by the bay and the wind was strong. The kids had a great time letting the wind blow the bubbles. If you do not live where it is windy, use large fans. Strawberry baskets are awesome bubble blowers. |

| | Thanks for making that call to the museum! We got the glycerin last night at Hobby Lobby for $3.50 for a good sized bottle. It's in with the soap making supplies. My husband doesn't really "track" VBS stuff much ahead of time but he was with me when we bought the glycerin. Suddenly snapping out of his VBS oblivion he says "Oh, we used to do that when I did educational outreach for the Museum of Natural History." DUH! LOL Anyway, he recommended that the hula hoop be wrapped in cotton twine. This helps to absorb the solution and make a stronger bubble.

| Hi,
I think they mean white string. K mart and walmart would have it. Not plastic. The white string will get wet with the bubble solution and make for a stronger bubble.

| I made up a batch of bubble solution yesterday, and it works GREAT!
I used the basic recipe of:
* 1 gallon distilled water
* 1 Tbs. glycerin
* 2/3 cup of Joy (I couldn't find the original Dawn)
(I made 3 recipes to fill the bottom of the plastic pool)
I'm going to try the cotton twine on the hula hoop to see if it works better, but from what I can see so far, it works pretty well.
Enjoy! |
