| | Hi everyone, in an earlier post on the other board, someone asked about getting sheets from Hotels. I wanted to share a couple of things, as we have gotten sheets donated for three years in a row now, with almost 400 last year alone. The best time to call a hotel is early early morning and ask for the Housekeeping Director, they usually know more about the availibility of sheets than the Hotel Managers. We tell them its for a church and for VBS and ask for anything they have. We used the pillowcases last year in the tye dye shop and fitted sheets torn to make sashes in the color of the tribes. Flat sheets go to decorate shops and tribal tents. Larger chains usually have a decor change or sheet change once a year and if you ask when that might be, you can catch them on the larger quantity. We ended up donating sheets and blankets to charities-- Hope this helps someone, as we got this idea from a thread a few years ago. THanks everyone for the great advice that comes across these boards.

| That is amazing! Can I ask what hotels were more likely to help you out?

| We have an area that is similiar to many 'hotel circles' in cities. Many of the hotels that donated sheets were 'suite hotels' -- Fairfield Inn, Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn. I dont remember all of them, but remember starting at one and just driving down the line of hotels asking!! Last year when I went to pick up sheets from one, it was near so many of the others, rather than calling, I just hopped out at each hotel while my husband drove and asked the HK directors for sheets. It usually isn't a matter of some doing it and some not, but rather of availibility and have they already donated!! Word is out they do this, and many churches and charities call on them. Good Luck! Ask them all!

| I have also heard that many times hospitals will also donate sheets that they can't use anymore.

| Our hospitals use sheets printed with their loga and are not allowed to give them away for health reasons.

Check out VBS Groupies for resources to help with the planning of your VBS. |

| I will be calling hotels today! As a nurse, I can tell you that we get "charged" by the pound for our linen b/c we get it from an outside vendor, so I doubt they would part w/ any in this day and age of cost cutting! kimberly
